Probably fried the microscopic junctions in the electronic components. As technologically advanced as the Japanese are, you'd think they'd send radiation hardened equipment in there.

What's the problem? It was a small drone with some light measuring equipment in it.

A small unmanned vehicle used for reconnaissance lost control and crashed onto the roof of unit No. 2 at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. (9501.TO) said Friday.

The company said that no fire or smoke was observed from the accident but that it was unknown if it had caused any damage to the roof of the reactor.

High energy radiation particles can cause logic upsets in computers (i.e. flipping a diode from a 1 to a zero when the particle hits).

It's very possible a logic upset caused the fly-by-wire control system to malfunction. Then again, these things crashed all the time in Iraq because they lost uplink/downlink with the controlling station stateside.
