It Gets Even Crazier: AT&T, Comcast, And Other ISPs Introduce The “Three Strikes” Internet Censorship Deal
"Completely over the top, even compared to everything else we’re up against: Entertainment industry sources are leaking that they’ve convinced Internet service providers to start restricting people’s web access. If you’re accused of downloading or streaming three files they’ll consider messing with your Internet connection — and maybe even decide what sites you’re allowed to visit.

The MPAA and RIAA have convinced companies like Comcast, AT&T, and others to voluntarily create a “Three Strikes” policy — yes, that’s really what they are calling it. CNET reports that your Internet service provider will respond to online file sharing with censorship tools like:

* “Throttling down” your Internet bandwidth and speed;

* Limiting your access to the Web;

* Controlling what websites you are allowed to visit;

* And requiring you to attend pirate school to be educated on copyright law.

Will you act now to fight this new ridiculous proposal? If you sign the petition at right, we’ll automatically generate an email under your name and address to the lobbyists for Comcast and AT&T — including former Republican Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott — containing this language:

NOTE TO AT&T AND COMCAST: Sources are reporting that you are preparing to implement a “Three Strikes” proposal to restrict users’ Internet access. As a customer who cares deeply about Internet freedom I urge you to oppose Internet censorship and reject this proposal.
Just sign on at right and we’ll send an email to the head honchos at AT&T and Comcast.

Sign The Demand Progress Petition To Fight This Proposal."

It would be very interesting to know how much of this nazi law the former Senator 'set up' before leaving office.

Secondly, can someone please tell me what authority or what branch of government Comcast and AT&T are that gives them the right to require any citizen to 'attend copyright education classes'?

Please let your Representatives know, that soon, we don't need them at all, because we will no longer have to provide them with Health Care, and the MANY pensions they receive while bouncing from one government position to another, because the CEO's of our Shadow Government already have company healthcare and pensions, stock, etc they receive from us taxpayers.

How many 'puppets' does one theatre really need?

No, I will not.

This law will save lives.

And it will save people money.

It will also help keep artists from being ripped off.

And help good people learn lessons without given them a permanent criminal record.

WE need to start making our own open source entertainment and supporting it, if we can.

Would you donate a dime per episode of a show you liked or twenty five cents for a book?

I don't know if it would work for TV, but a lot of pro authors would kill to get that much for a book download.

It would have to be voluntary, but I'd pay up, if I liked the work.

Kind of "paying for the next one"?

If the authors and creators are up on it, then it's legal.

Cut the copyright laws out of the picture all together, plus things that suck wouldn't keep being made because no one would pay for them.

Yes, I'd pay for stuff like that. For books, a dollar even. For tv shows, depends on if there are commercials in it. But if commercial free, I'd pay a few cents an episode.

I already pay netflix and hulu subscriptions.

shhh.... let's not explain that to the lawmakers when the RIAA and MPIA are adding up all their 'money lost'.

copyright is BS.

copyright = waterworld

copyright = life according to jim

no copyright = shakespeare

copyright has NOTHING to do with protecting artists or creators, but controlling content so that the people currently controlling it can make as much money as possible and stay in control.

For every 1 artist who's 'RIGHTS ARE PROTECTED' there are 100's who get theirs tromped on by so said protectors and 1000's who never get a chance due to the medium of choice being burdened with the likes of Lady Gaga and 2 and a half men.

Oh yeah! To the defenders of Copyright Metallica who need to protect their intellectual property - good on ya for your latest money grab with your intellectual property

Picture this, people stop using the internet, go back to physically copying each others stuff?
ISP goes broke.
Will never happen.....
Because when you think about it logically, its no different than getting in your car or on your bike or the bus.
And going to your friends house, and him watching your movie or listening to your music.
The only difference is the method, which is a similar method.
They just wish to profiteer off the method.
Anyone who can not understand that is intellectually lost.

AT&T is owned by the NSA, so what did you expect to happen next?

The whole internet goes thru the facility the NSA has over in Virginia, or Maryland... (I forget which)

If you think a petition will really get the Government to give up its internet connection, I suggest you carefully consider that line of reasoning...
