Re: What is your average electricity bill?
The question is meaningless without additional information, such as:

- What is your primary source of heat?
- What is your primary source of AC (if any)?
- Is your water heated by electricity or gas?
- How many refrigerators and freezers do you have?
- Efficient light bulbs?
- Lights on all night long?
- Computers on all day and night? Servers? TVs?
- etc.

All of the above can be boiled down to:

- How many kwh/month do you use

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
We have been living in RV parks for the past 4 years, as soon as the youngest moved out. Our highest bill was in winter, running a electric oil heater, 75.00
Living in an RV and moving when we like is very cool. Have a 06 travel trailer, and a nice pickup. Works well. Don't like the neighbors, move...

Now we are in TX and our electric is paid. All bills paid. Cable, electric, water/sewer, we buy only our propane to cook with. Have a hott rod in the water heater, so no gas there, just the cook stove. We pay 350 a month here in Mineral Wells.

My husband is a Brit living in England. He retired today from BT after 30 years. Hopefully he will be over here in the US in several weeks. His dream is to live in an RV. I'm a little leery. Any regrets with your lifestyle?

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
$425.00 if I averaged 12 months. Winter can be over $500

needless to say I didn't hang Christmas lights this year.

SoCal Edison, Los Angeles

I don't have central air or heat. I have radiant floor heating which is mostly gas except for the pump.

I am forever going around turning out lights, I have low energy light bulbs, I've turned off outside lighting and unplug what isn't being used

It's just sad

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
Kansas here - we have an all electric house but our unit is a heat pump - this works great in the summer but not so great in the cold winter. Average spring/fall bill is around 75-100 dollars - average summer bill is around 120-175 - average winter bill is around 140-200 dollars. I am in artificial menopause due to estrogen positive breast cancer so I get severe hot flashes and like it cold in the house - we keep the thermostat during all seasons at 68 degrees except on days like today where I run the fans and keep it at 72.

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
I don't know. Somethings up with our electric bill. No water heater, no washer or dryer, keep the AC set on 78 degrees, with only 300 square feet.

One lamp and only the tv OR pc on, small refrigerator, and a floor fan that we only use to sleep ... that's it.

I'd like to compare kwh usage and 'service fees' and cost.

Last month:

May 2 to June 1

Total: $97.44

Fee?: $11.50

Taxes: $6.36

Usage: 549 kwh

We pay anywhere from $300 to $600 a month, and our government want to put a carbon tax on us that will make go up at least another 20%. Groceries are about 40% hire than other countries.

Melbourne here. Mine aren't that high yet (roughly $330 for two people) but if mine got up that high, I am afraid I would go back to rubbing two sticks together.

Re: What is your average electricity bill?
in Sydney Oz, as a couple in a compact unit, from memory around 1200kWhm, last bill was around AU$400 a quarter - electricity rates have doubled in the last 4 years to I think around 22c/kWh plus service fees.

reading this in Taiwan where the average bill appears to be about a quarter of that, but that probably reflects average salaries or purchasing power parity.

Taiwan rates mentioned here [link to www.forumosa.com] as 12c/kWh or around half-Australian rate so most English teacher types probably living in small units with gas hot water, little cooking, dunno about heating, and air-con as a main question ...

Apartment just outside of NYC - $75 in the winter. May/June through October, $250-$275 per month. If it's above 85 degrees or so, I leave one AC on all day for my cats while I'm at work.
