You know white people never fail to amaze me with their prejudices... I wouldn't be upset if this was an disucussion without the usual put downs of people of color. It is an interesting topic, whether Beyonce would be where she is if she didn't have the weaves and so forth. Yes, people of color are aware that they are constantly judged against a stupid, shallow,twisted,and vapid white standard of beauty. These standards have them basically hating themselves and they're features with the bleaching and the cremes. I agree that people like Lil Kim and Sammy Ortiz have taken it to the extremes trying to live up to an impossible standard of beauty. But just like your comments are saying that Black women want to look white the same goes for white women too.
You say that every woman wants straight hair like white women and how its a women's crowning reign or something to that effect. I wonder how you feel about white women who inject their lips to get that fuller lip appeal, I'm sure you know who I'm talking about just think about Angelina Jolie, what about the ones injecting their butts like Kim Kardashian to try to imulate a black women's shape? Let's not even talk about all the tanning white people do to try to imulate a darker look, think of the cast of Jersey Shore and countless hollywood types out there, they tan so much that they look orange. White women wear cornrows and extensions and do all the things they can to imulate people of color so give me a break with that b.s. We're all human and we imulate each other. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you won't catch me bleaching my skin to look whiter, what for? I am proud to be a Black woman, why would I want pale, pasty white skin? And I am happy to be nappy too!
