Well, just came back from watching the movie, and I'm still perplexed why Buzz Aldrin would have wanted to appear himself in the movie, and exactly in a part in which his character seems to be expressly pointing to the possibility that the whole idea of a cover up is not fringe anymore.

Anyone else watched it and not freaked out about this???

I came home with the need to confirm myself that Al drin himself was in the movie and not an actor. It completely caught me off guard. I had no idea he was in the movie.

Cast is listed on IMDB, and Buzz appears in it.

Re: Am I the only one that is really intrigued that the real Buzz Aldrin appears in Transformers 3?????
Don't you?

I mean, the guy has 0 need to appear in a cheese movie, yet he does it, and precisely on the part where the "old guard" of NASA is summoned to explain why the hell no one in the current USA government knows about the ufo found on the moon (an autobot crashed craft). They proceed to tell that McArthur himself sworn them to secrecy and that only 35 people in the surface of earth knew the real reason of the race to the moon, so the knowledge got lost in time.

The whole movie is full of hints of a cover up. And then the obvious question:

Why in the lord's name would Aldrin lend his support, to the point of appear himself, to a movie that is supposedly a mere entertainment for the brain dead masses and with a cheesy plot based on cooky conspiracy theories???

The joke is on us. Most people will travel down the road of non-thinking and say "it's just a movie..." We are slowly being told the truth about these issues and it's being released in movies, tv and all the other places we frequent the most.

Yeah no you're right it's much more likely that it's part of a vast conspiracy to show us aliens living on the moon while not actually telling us they exist for some reason or other.

That makes much more sense than an old man being offered a walk-on part in a Hollywood movie and saying yes for the hell of it.

Re: Am I the only one that is really intrigued that the real Buzz Aldrin appears in Transformers 3?????
found this:

Conspiracy theorists, rejoice!

For about 45 minutes, Transformers: Dark of the Moon has a whiff of political intrigue that involves (gasp!) the space program. Apparently while everyone else was blindly believing the hype about Apollo 11, namely that it was a world-changing exploration mission, turns out, it actually was a cover for gathering intelligence on a mysterious UFO that crashed into the moon. And yes, the findings involved those famous robots in disguise…

In an effort to properly sell this slice of revisionist history, a framing device that also worked well in this summer’s reboot of X-Men, there’s even real news footage featuring President Kennedy and Nixon, not to mention confirmation on the rumor’s validity from none other than former astronaut Buzz Aldrin himself.

I haven't seen the film yet, but from interviews with people involved in the production of the movie before it was released there were some cryptic comments about the part that Aldrin plays in the movie (himself, obviously) and what he had to say in the film. I don't know how to interpret that without having seen the film yet, but you can draw your own conclusions if you've seen it already.

Well, thanks for that, I did'nt knew it. The plot thickens.

Remember that not so much ago Aldrin referred to the monoliths on phobos in yet another very criptic and sugestive interview.

another review that mentions it:

Re: Am I the only one that is really intrigued that the real Buzz Aldrin appears in Transformers 3?????
Buzz is a publicity hound. He always needs to keep his face in public view. In the last couple of years a "shuttle simulator" type ride opened at Kennedy Space Center and who do you think shows up in the TV ads for it? Buzz Aldrin.

I know, he's a living legend - true. I read his latest book. He's been a tireless advocate for manned space exploration. But somehow, I always get the feeling that part of him is just afraid of getting old and forgotten.

I think that's why he appears in Transformers 3. That and it was probably a lot of fun.

Give you a hint or perhaps more... Aldrin taking photos with actors of 2001 Space Odyssey along with Tom Hanks who worked in Apollo 13; Hollywood stars given to the actors... oops, astronauts and Aldrin's Freemason ring and his letter to Freemason Lodge:

It's not about discussing the Apollo Mission alone but everything else, their interviews analized with FBI technique, the comments from the astronauts fried to death prior to the trip.... , the Armstrong speech about the bad trip of the parrots (which repeat what they are told) , something to be understood by future generations, a speech made only after reaching old age...., his interest and trip to caves in Ecuador at Los Tayos, etc, etc.

When you support "cooky" conspiracies,
- you sort of validate them,
- you tie, to some extent, all the skeptics to them,
- you create enough confusion for the "sheep" to discern,
- you divert the attention from the real ones.
