I hear ya. I am 36 y.o., never married and no children.
I have always had this thing with marriage. With the exception of one aunt and uncle, every single person I know that has gotten married, has gotten divorced. My father is on his 7th (yes 7th) marriage. It seems that the vows taken at a wedding doesn't mean anything anymore. I would want them to mean something to me...and to keep them. That is why I have never married. Not wanting to marry has cost me one good woman in the past. Now having another good woman who feels somewhat the same way makes it easier.

Children....I have a hard enough time taking care of myself.
I have never planned on having kids, or even wanted them. However, if God wants me to be a father, then I will be a father. If I got my g.f. pregnant, I would be happy to accept the responsibility, but I am not aiming for it.

If I ever were to marry...I would totally elope. Weddings today seem more about the glamour of it all....and materialism, and tax breaks. Its just a big public show that can be very expensive. To elope would be just my bride to be and myself, taking these vows together under God in some small ceremony. I think the "wedding" would then have more of a personal, and intimate feeling and mean much more to both of us.

But remember...marriage is the leading cause of divorce. lol
