As a casual observer of the Anthony trial, and having read some of these pro-Casey posts, I feel a need to respond myself, particularly regarding the silly allegation of those who endorse the very prudent petition are part of a "mob crowd". Signing the petition doesn't indicate a "mob crowd". What it represents is the right of the people to voice their grievances by way of a formalized orderly process, exactly what the petition does. And, from looking at the thousands and thousands of signatures, as well as reading commentary all over the world, you Casey lovers are a small minority. The "mob" you are crafting in your mind is actually an overwhleming consesnsus of people around the world who recognize a glaring miscarriage of justice when they see it. I followed the case closely myself and I agree a cold-blooded, psychopathic killer got off scott free, not by "the Court", as another poster stated, but by a group of jurors who admit to being confused by the evidence presented, who admit to rushing its verdict, and some who admit to rushing it because of their upcoming vacations and such. Is this the type of process that produces an accurate and reliable result. Not hardly! And any casual observer of the trial who applies a modicum of common sense and objectivity, and who looks at the totality of evidence, doesn't have any trouble concluding that Casey Anthony killed her daughter and killed the child with premeditation. She lied and lied and lied, concealed the body in the trunk of her car where it rotted before she dumped in like trash. Then she obstructed justice by lying repeatedly to State and Federal authorities. If you believe this is an innocent person then I've got some swamp land to sell you, too.

I hope the Feds DO prosecute Casey Anthony, too, not out of some vigilante mindset, but, out of a hope that (a) faith can be restored in the American justice system, and (b) to see that a murdered child's life actually meant something. Letting Casey Anthony off scott free makes a mockery out of our justice system and makes a laughingstock out of it. And, I'm not attorney like the individual above, but I also know the Feds could prosecute Anthony with no attachment of Double Jeopardy. Double Jeopardy, as the guy pointed out, applies only to State prosecutions and does not limit the jurisdiction of the Federal Government. No state lines need to be crossed in a criminal prosecution for violations of civil rights, and no lines need to be crossed to prosecute for Obstruction of Justice. Maybe the Feds can make the system work.
