Sakurajima erupts and activity have been really high lately. There have been many time two vents active. What worries me really much there have really much earthquake activity in aira-caldera wich one main vent sakurajima is:

There have been also lots of earthquakes around aira caldera. Let see how much activity will rise. I think they give that warning because their magma canals and barriers are going down because there have been so much big activity lately.

5.0 earthquake in kyshu island. We can expect lots of activity in sakurajima.

Here relly good report from JMA about japan volcanoes situation. It tells that also minamidake crater is active and what was new informatio to me is that below that is main earthquake point. It is not more active sova crater. Anyway really good text to read.

Sakurajima is really active again

I live 30 miles away from Sakurajima. Basically I live in the valley between that volcano and Shinmoedake (Kirishima) which had a massive eruption exactly one year ago (its first eruption in 50 years).

We here Sakurajima erupting all the time. Sometimes the boom is loud enough to shake the house. When I first arrived in Japan 13 years ago Sakurajima was very active but then entered a lull for a decade. Things have been heating up for the mountain these last 2 years.

Good info thank you. Shimonadake become active two days after sendai massive earthqukae. It is good example how volcanoes dont need quake next to them to become active.

Now days wholw kyshu volcano line (from kikai to aso-san) have been lately really active. I hope there dont happen any big eruptions. There is many supervolcano in this line: Aira and Kikai caldera and aso-san wich one is maybe biggest one.

There have been also couple earthquakes in aira-caldera so magma moves and we can expect more activity in sakurajima.

Looks bad but magma flows so i dont think there will be more bigger eruptions. There have been three quake around aira caldera and one directly in sakurajima.

Load VLC player and it should be work but there is lots of traffic so you had to try it many times the it works. When picture jammed load it again.

One thing now. If thing goes this way there will be about 2000recorded eruptions in sakurajima/aira caldera in this year.

Big question is what kind of eruption is that one wich one will end this progress. Some day that will happen.
