Casey Anthony vs Salem witch trials and the like

I always thought the people involved in the Salem witch trials and the like back in the day were just unevolved people and crazy. But after seeing the way people are reacting to Casey Anthony I see nothing has changed. I was watching the mob of people going nuts on tv over the verdict and how bad they wanted her to pay. They could have taken her outside and burnt her alive and everyone would have cheered. We havent changed one bit.
