Re: Australia's carbon tax starts tomorrow any thoughts
The fact is power from the sun is FREE, coal is not. Why then do not private companies (even small ones) utilize this mana from heaven and reap free money?
Answer: The power gleaned from the present available technology is pitiful in comparison to the capital outlay.
Which is why our present power bills are so high, paying for solar panels on roofs.

Where'd the green shills go? They're constantly trying to get me baned. Guess the mods don't like this site being hijacked by lefty activists either....

I thought there was suddenly a strange amount of government line comments appearing here . How do they find these sites . Or were they sent here .

Im a greenie too and a left of the road , but i like many other thinking greens know this tax is a scam and that the money will not go into protecting forrests or life giving projects they claim.

We know the tax is for the UN mainly and agenda 21 . We know labour and the Green party are not what they claim to be .

Re: Australia's carbon tax starts tomorrow any thoughts
:thisasshole:

About time......this Carbon Tax came in
and about time - Australia finally takes some action

Australians are of course - the biggest polluters on the planet per capita
so why should'nt we join Europe, China, individual US states, New Zealand and others.....and do something about it ? And yes - the tax WILL encourage low carbon solutions and WILL have a positive contribution to the problem and the solution.

Thank fuck for the Greens, the Independents and the courage of the Government to take this step despite how hard it would be.

Like most people here, I dont follow the sheeple and I dont swallow what every government tells me. I know how flawed science is and I know how many 'illusions' are generated as fact.

But those against this tax are claiming the world's scientists and all the scientific bodies are all having some delusional conspiracy together and those against this tax are siding with the BIG CORPORATIONS and shock jocks...

We now know Australians are all to be compensated for the extra dollar or so they may pay on their shopping bills and compensated for other things if they INSIST on demanding to use dirty, polluting products and services rather than INSISTING on CHOOSING clean energy alternatives.

So why the hell are so many of you against a Carbon Tax - living out of some sort of paranoia whipped up by Abbott and Alan Jones...

Abbott of course is the only living Liberal leader ALIVE today that does not support putting a price on Carbon. I guess all you climate change deniers and carbon tax rejectors assume that John Howard, Malcolm Turnball, John Hewson etc are all as deluded as the Greens and Labor and the CSIRO and Europe and so on and so on...

Aren't other taxes reduced a bit?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1273752

You have to understand the australian political climate on how things work here.
There will be tax cuts depending on how much you earn.
But the cuts in comparision to the hike up in prices won't stack up.

You need to understand that to run a country on energy other than coal, you won't be able to use turbine or solar to run a country.

There is a big chance that if they get there claws into dispencing coal, they will eventually go nuclear.
This is one thing that we as australians don't won't here.

You can not run a country on solar or turbine alone.

What do they use in the netherlands?

You need to take into account that our country is much larger than your's.

You probably run your country with windmills. Two or three should just about get you enough power for a few years.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1463257

Just 1/30 of your country receives enough sun to power the whole globe.

Prove it mate. Show me a link to a single solar technology that can take on base load power.

yeah exactly. just goes to show that the government does its own thing while the people are powerless to stop it.

they should just do majority votes for every major decision. The government is supposed to be ran by the people for the people not the other way around.

Instance, why on earth do you believe fossil fuel is the only cheap solution, except nuclear as an alternative? Don't you see these 2 are the corporate sponsored solutions. Cos it means centralized power, it means control by supply of fuel, it means high profits.

You ignore all these other options?

That is the exact reason why carbon trading and tax is done, cos lots of people are like you and need to be forced to see and look for alternatives.

Fucking lying two-faced bitch we have as a prime minister told the electorate:

"There will be no carbon tax under the government I lead"

Bullshitting bitch - you lied. No-one even elected you - you staged a coup to unseat Kevin Dudd (our last loser PM)

Carbon dioxide makes up 3-4% of the atmosphere gases and us aussies contribute no more than 2% of total carbon to the atmosphere.

BTW OP - it doesn't start tomorrow --- the bitch releases information on it tomorrow

There is no way the aussie people are gonna cop this.
