I know about propaganda from big oil. They will say we cannot change cars cos what doe we change first, cars or gas stations? They will say wind cannot bring enough energy. They will say it will at least take 20 more years to change (they said it 20 years ago too). They say anything to keep their little energy empire in their control.

They might be able to run small community's...but to install these devices in every home is impossible because of the costs associated with them.

What you do not understand is that education and science, which explains why we need to reduce fossil fuel, did not manage to make the industrialzed nations change their ways. That the Kyoto protocol and the current carbon trading scheme was devised as an alternative way to change industries. That they did not want to use force and law, but economic incentives to change industry. That it is actually pretty decent and smart how they try to do it.

And that little consumers like you have a problem with it is beyond comprehension. These things are about industries and pollution, it will hardly effect little you in your little wallet. And even if it did a bit, you should be happy to pay it instead of think it will only bring in nuclear disasters and shit.

Dirty little lie on carbon tax

THE government has announced its carbon tax will commence in July 2012. Consumers and taxpayers should be very concerned about this new tax.
The announcement is even vaguer than either of the mining taxes announced last year. All we know is that a new and complex tax will be introduced next year. So far, we can't even be sure how much revenue it will raise, except that it will be budget neutral; not even revenue neutral.

This should not inspire confidence. The government has shown itself capable of spending more than the revenue it already raises, and now it is promising to spend all the revenue from the new tax.

There is a dirty little lie at the centre of the government's plan to introduce a carbon price. That is the notion that carbon isn't already priced. The government must be hoping nobody has noticed the plethora of programs that have contributed to rising living costs while minimally reducing carbon emissions.

Somehow you think oil is cheap and solar is expensive. But how can that be. Solar can be done without photovoltaics. It can be done with mirrors and heating oil or another liquid that drives turbines.

Oil requires:

- military to protect it
- miles and miles of pipelines
- huge oceanic tankers traveling miles and miles too
- refining that requires energy and chemicals
- transport to gas stations

How come this is the 'cheap' solution? How come solar or wind cannot be done as cheaply?
