SOME conspiracy theories are plausible, but think about it...wouldn't the greatest trick to play on theorists be theories themselves?

They've conditioned you guys to think EVERYTHING is going wrong so when "it" (the big one) hits you, only a small amount of people will know what it may or may not be.

You are quite correct, OP, in your assessment of the feeble
mindedness of the morans here at GuLP ... but you're missing
the big picture.

Yes, they're not very bright. And yes, they will believe
any fiction and deny any fact in order to rationalize their
fringe beliefs.

But why?

Because they want an afterlife, and that agenda is always
job #1. That is the prime directive.

The vast majority of fringe theorists are from the
religious right. Which means they've believed in the
fantasy of religion for most of their lives. So they are
quite familiar with being faith-based rather than
fact-based. Which is why they cannot be reasoned with.

Being religious, they have a well deserved victim mentality
(because the christian god is quite a peevish torturing
tyrannical asshole). Consequently, the religious right
is also quite fear based.

So you've got a bunch of dimwitted, fear-based and
faith-based fantasy believers who more than anything else
want to get to an imaginary heaven. Some even get to have
72 virgins when they get there.

And that is the attraction of fringe theory. If
the fantastical fringe theories are true ... that means
there's a better chance that the fantastical religion
theories are true. Which means the morans will get an
afterlife. And that's what it's all about.

But I don't think mental illness is a big part of it.

People notice that the official 'reality' is broken for whatever reason, and look for an alternative.

Anyone who has been hiding things has been hiding them for a reason and doesn't want this attention.

What better way to distract these people starting to take notice, than by creating many, overlapping, more alternate realities? Especially stuff that leeches into something true and distorts it.

Then, naive and open-minded questioners may latch on to the wrong alternative.

As an example,

Due to inbreeding at higher levels, for a long time throughout history and still going on today, those in power (rulers) have tended to inbreed. They are exclusive, this should surprise nobody. Therefore, they have a much higher rate of a very uncommon, recessive blood trait: RH-

Even leaders of supposed elected democracies seem to have a bizarrely high proportion, RH-.

BH- is also known as "blue blood" due to some of the weaknesses associated with it (basically referring to less oxygen in the blood). RH- people are often very sensitive to external environment, such as temperature. They have poor circulation so they'll have cold hands and such. So in a very abstract way they can be seen as "potentially evil, and reptilian ("cold blooded".)

Somehow this has been distorted and overlapped into the movie-theater storyline of "evil reptilian alien people" who some argue *actually transform* into reptiles, and possibly even live in the earth's core or something. This is utter and complete raving nonsense, easily spotted, and will instantly discredit someone by association.

There are so many other related conspiracy theories and slight alterations of the storyline details people could surely bring up, and THAT's MY POINT. These are all very confusing when you first stumble upon them.

It is wrong to pose as an elected leader of a democracy when one is a dictator chosen by an old boys' club. That does not make someone a magical lizard-person. Bizarre as it sounds, normal but naive people somehow do get the concepts confused, if obfusticators blend this enough.

This was just a small (and hopefully less controversial) example, but the same thing is done with anything else with a shred of legitimacy to it. All sorts of nonsense that seems to corroborate, actually obfuscates and weakens knowledge.

Those who have things to conceal have created a veritable "where's waldo" world for us to have to sift through. It is a dirty game, but what would you expect? For those who truly enjoy the process of learning, it's a challenge we can handle.

Almost all PCT are wrong. But not all. Consider everything, but think very critically, from as many perspectives as you can, and make your belief be very hard-won.

And please, if you do value seeking knowledge, be careful about calling too many forms of belief a mental illness. There may be a few people will mental illness on thee but most people that are stating bizarre nonsense as facts are not mentally ill: they are mostly deceivers or deceived. The mental illness label, far too generously applied, is another way to discredit anyone thinking about anything besides the official storyline.
