*** Believers In Mysterious Planet Nibiru Await Earth's End ***
I'm not endorsing this notion, I'm merely the messenger.

Renowned astrophysicist Carl Sagan once described a "baloney detection kit" — a set of tools that skeptical thinkers use to investigate any new concept. A few of the key tools include a healthy distrust of information that isn't independently verified, critically assessing an idea rather than becoming irrationally attached to it simply because it's intriguing, and a preference for simple explanations over wildly speculative ones.

Exo2

The waxing obsession with the planet Nibiru , which conspiracy theorists say is a planet swinging in from the outskirts of our solar system that is going to crash into Earth and wipe out humanity in 2012 — or, in some opinions, 2011 — shows that an astonishing number of people "are watching YouTube videos and visiting slick websites with nothing in their skeptical toolkit," in the words of David Morrison, a planetary astronomer at NASA Ames Research Center and senior scientist at the NASA Astrobiology Institute.

Morrison estimates that there are 2 million websites discussing the impending Nibiru-Earth collision. He receives, on average, five email inquiries about Nibiru every day. "At least a once a week I get a message from a young person — as young as 11 — who says they are ill and/or contemplating suicide because of the coming doomsday," Morrison told Life's Little Mysteries, a sister site to SPACE.com. What's the origin of this mass panic about Nibiru, which astronomers say doesn't exist?

A suspect origin

The idea that doomsday will result from a planetary collision was first proposed in 1995 by Nancy Lieder, a self-described "contactee." Lieder claims she has the ability to receive messages through an implant in her brain from aliens in the Zeta Reticuli star system. On her website, ZetaTalk, she stated that she was chosen to warn mankind of an impending planetary collision which would wipe out humanity in May 2003. (When no such cataclysmic event occurred, Lieder's followers chose 2012 as the new date for the Nibiru collision, which coincides neatly with other doomsday prophecies focused on the ending of the Mayan calendar.) [Doomsday Facts (or Fictions)]

alienplanet

Lieder originally called the bringer of doom "Planet X," and later connected it to a planet that was hypothesized to exist by a writer named Zecharia Sitchin in his book "The 12th Planet" (Harper 1976). According to Sitchin (1920-2010), the ancient Sumerians wrote about a giant planet called Nibiru — the "twelfth planet" in the solar system, after the other planets (including Pluto), the sun and moon — which has an oblong orbit that swings near Earth every 3,600 years. Humans actually evolved on Nibiru, he said, and colonized this planet during a previous flyby.

It takes Nibiru 3,600 years to complete one orbital journey, and it was last in this vicinity around 160 B.C.E.

That would mean a return of Nibiru in year 3440.

What amazes me is that these fools don't have enough education to realize that nibiru cannot possibly exist as described, and that simple observations that anyone can do prove that nothing extraneous is in the inner solar system.

Um, actually, if you think about it, its a star. Our star is the only one to carry the name "sun". And, most stars probably have planets. Think of Nibiru as a "mini solar system". Star, planets and all. If Saturn or Jupiter were hotter, and in the dwarf star range, wouldn't you call there moons, planets? Think about it.....

No one said it was in the inner solar system. You just choose to subscribe to one interpertation. Have you ever heard of a "long cycle binary solar system?"

Maybe YOU should educate yourself, friend.

Here is a good start.

I apologize, but trying to debunk a viable threat like a binary star? Binary stars exist orbiting companion stars in 70% of star systems in our galaxy alone. How it affects us varies on orbital paths and proximity to this binary star.

The premise that there is no binary star in our system because the axises or orbits of planets other than Jupiter or Saturn have not been affected is wrong. Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants, yet them emit some heat that affect the heat of their nearby moons. They are also massive objects.

Homo Sapien has existed for 200,000 years, with 50,000 years of being completely identical to us.

The first evidence of stone-and-mud buildings begins about 12,000 years ago, and they were likely community centers.

Let me repeat that. 12 thousand years ago, history books tells us that people like us suddenly decided to build stone and mud housing 12,000 years ago. Huh? How can that be a realistic expectation of technological progress based on our human intelligence?

There is no real evidence of a major civilization pre-12000 years ago except the older pyramids of Egypt. Even the Sphinx used to be buried up to the neck with a human face and only after evacuations did they get to the lower body that took after a lion. Nobody knows when the lower body was carved. That information has simply vanished.

Humanity has the majority of civilizations located where water is. What happens when water levels rise huh? Look at google maps, you see the old coastline. There used to be whole civilizations settled along these coastlines because the sea was life.

Even some scientists admit our original population went through a genetic bottleneck where there were as little as a dozen breeding pairs throughout the world. If that's true or not I don't know but what would have happen to create such a narrow breeding population?

Like you, Sitchin was just a messenger but to depend on NASA or organized space agencies for facts is a sad error.

They will not inform people of an Extinction Level Event Nibiru Is Near situation. In an effort to avoid mass panic until it is absolutely too late.

Actually, being a part of said universe, we, as conscious and sentient beings, are able to hash out our own fate via will. We are able, thru knowledge, to manipulate the physical. Simple example, build a house. Did people build houses, or did the universe. There are different stages of creation, like on a ladder, you can choose to acend, or decend. What are you choosing?

Being an astrophotographer, I'm very well aware of the double star theory. But that's just it...there is VERY little evidence for it.

Also, what "interpretation" do YOU subscribe to. Virtually all "planet ex" scenarious claim that it is here already in the inner solar system. Are they all incorrect? If not, when will it become detectable? Where is it? Specifically?
