Well, the reason is that the Bible was written for the profane or common man. In order to accomplish peace and unity, there are some things that must not be told or known.

It is simple, the Old Testament written in the 5th age had failed to properly manage human affairs and keep the profane from killing one another constantly. In addition, the Jews betrayed the Romans so we said game over and the 5th age is over. Hence, we took over where the Jews had failed.

We started the 6th age which is the age you and I are somehow conversing in, made a whole new calendar, added months to the year, new holidays, new tribes, Jesus, saints and the MOST successful book in human history, the New Testament.

I do believe books were indeed 'banned from the bible'. There's many good websites that cover it in addition to the vids linked by the OP. All I would add is that ultimately God wanted us to have in the current Holy Bible what we have, as a test and also to fulfil His prophecy:

Amos 8:11  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
Amos 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 

However, we are living in a new age, a computer and internet age when knowledge is being greatly increased. These banned books are now quite readily available, it's just a challenge of testing them for veracity. Now consider a time in the future when:

Daniel 12:4  But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

I think many people can see now that the Book of Enoch is the only text that explains in detail what happened in Genesis 6 for example. The Book of Jasher is spoken of in the Holy Bible. Historically speaking the Books of Maccabees cover in history 'gap' in the KJV Bible, explaining what happened when the King of Grecia (Alexander the Great) conquered Persia and then fell without an heir.

God works through humans brother. How else can things get done like writing books and teaching profane humans who cannot communicate in the spiritual realm? Just FYI, it takes humans to communicate with most humans since they do not have the divine ability to do so.
