Re: COLORADO: Latest CEO Toys? Signs of the Times? Other?
Not only is it interesting that tanks, (obviously in working order) are being delivered. But look at the pictures in a holistic sense.

an interesting concrete structure being build next to the roadway upper right, renovations to the front right building.

Some curious sight alignment marks around. The prominent building has extra wood channeling around the front section and well, there is quite a bit of activity going on,.

Anyone notice or have comments about this?

I rather doubt its a patriot group. More likely something else.

The industrialist in question is a known associate of a certain Democratic senator.

I don't think its a patriot group either. Something smells. I am from Colorado, what part were these taken?

looks like he knows they can't pay social security and entitlements anymore, and people are gonna be pissed.

he is just preparing early.

Gotta wonder about that, especially having read the thread here about all the CEO's bailing out and retreating to the woods.
 Quoting: UncleMonkeySez

well on that comment a lot of them planned to bail underground and that has been very effectively prevented, and they can't bail to Mars or the Moon either, so I guess maybe they need to bail to quiet places up a hill.

Being as how this is GLP, gotta feeling if you'll take the time to look at the pics, you'll have some food for thought.

These cellphone pics were taken recently from a public highway in the mountains of Colorado. The ranch in the pic is privately owned by a wealthy industrialist.

Everything in the pics was visible from the public road as one passed by, and no trespassing or other crime was committed to take the pictures. When the workmen in the pics realized that a vehicle had stopped and photos were being taken they became obviously agitated so the photo-shoot was stopped and travel re-commenced.

I thought perhaps GLP would be interested in viewing, speculating and discussing about such things. If so, there's a bit more to be said.

If a Mod is able to put the pics actually onto this thread, and feels it worthwhile to do so, I'd be pleased if you did, thanks. hf

Really? Some ex-army guy posted on this forum that all you need to take out a tank is a paint-ball gun to blind the driver so they can't see where you're coming from.

"TEOTWAWKI" What's that?

A relative of mine went to college with a hedge fund guy who is buying a farm in CA, for some reason... Somewhere in the vicinity of Point Reyes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1465321

First think REM song, Its the end of the world as we know it, very basic, my 7 year old knows this. LOL. The pics were taken between Carbondale and Delta in Colorado. I know exactly where, but you will want to do your own investigation perhaps. Look around in the photos, even though taken with a crap camera, there are some surprises in there. The guy makes over 7 million a week, and has his own helicopter he zooms around on as well. Also a fleet of USMC humvee's. The roads are two lane rural, lots of rocks and obstacles as it is, would only take one shell to close off the road for a good long time. Has anyone been down two track forest roads in Colorado, the bigger the tank the rougher the travel, these little tanks would be perfect. The area is known for the massive BLM leased coal mines, like electric power, you better like coal, I tell you this, if America dont want the coal then China and India are ready to buy it all! Enough intel now to connect the dots?

Re: COLORADO: Latest CEO Toys? Signs of the Times? Other?
Thanks, Mods, for the pin. I expected this little thread to have died-the-death overnight, as there was so little interest in it yesterday.

[link to protectapeel.com] is a mothballing material, which looks like it/something similiar was used on these vehicles.

Would barrels filled with cement to deactivate have been mothballed for transport?

There's a couple other surprises in the pics, if you blow them up and examine them. I'd rather not mention at the moment, hoping someone else will see what I saw and confirm it without me having mentioned it. If I mention it, it'll be seen--if I don't mention it and it's still seen, then it's confirmation and not just my eyes playing tricks on me and me misleading others into seeing it.

One poster asked why I didn't come out and name the industrialist. Not my business to, at the moment. A local sheriff was contacted. That contact pretty much satisfied citizen-duty to TPTB, in case this was a manifestation of scare-o-rism. I have no interest in "outing" a private citizen by name publicly unless there's overwhelming reason to, and ducks set straighter in a row than they now are.

Purpose of this thread, in my mind, was simple: to show a concrete example of one instance where some incredible stuff is in the hands of a private citizen, a CEO industrialist. This fits in pretty well with other GLP threads relating to preps CEO's are making and general TEOTWAWKI material here.

Alot's been made about the tanks being antique. I'm not a tanker, so I don't know. But, I do know that a black-powder musket from the 1700's can be still effective in taking down a deer. I've seen it happen. I'm quite sure any tank from the 1940's would still put the fear of God into me, if I was looking down its barrel. I wouldn't be fretting about it not being an Abrams, would you?

If these tanks haven't been deactivated, but are antique, think about it: what better material to pre-position than something that's "off the books" but for one reason or another was never de-activated?

Maybe these tanks will be part of his security force when TSHTF?

All the wealthy can afford to spend big bucks on their security while the rest of us will be left fending off looters with our baseballs bats and glocks.

Boy, that's the truth, isn't it?

I suppose an AA tank would be ridiculously effective at crowd-control against baseball and Glock-wielding hordes or controlling a mountain pass with autos trying to come over it. It'd be horrendous.

i keep reading here that the govn't and elite's bunkers are finished. i've never seen a picture of these said bunkers but has anyone seen the building that would be above them? how do they go down into them? it would be awesome to imagine that a regular old house on the outside is a massive elevator on the inside to go down 20-50 stories into the earth.

That's nice, but is absolutely peripheral to the fact of the existence of these things in private hands. From what little reading about WW2 I've done, doesn't seem to be any encounters listed where a .50 machine gun was terribly effective against tanks. If there'd been, 20mm antitank rounds would never have bothered to have been invented.

It's absolutely peripheral to the question of "are the barrels deactivated?".

It's peripheral to the fact that if TSHTF, anyone with one of these things is gonna be doing a whole lot of whatever they might want to do, whereas people like me with my Ford F-150 are pretty much going to be SOL when it comes to holding a mountain pass.

I was doing some study online, and it seems that the average life expectancy of any tank in a full-blown encounter on a modern battlefield is three minutes. So, no tank fares well in that situation.

The Barrett .50BMG is a anti tank/ anti material rifle not a machine gun. And back in the day anti tank rifles were capable of penetrating 33mm of armor and were quite effective all the way up to the Korean war. They switched over to anti material when armors became more advanced.

I reckon you guys are getting your knickers in a twist about nothing. So, some good 'ol boy with money collects ancient armored vehicles. May be he is starting a museum. We even have people in UK who collect ex-military vehicles of all kinds, including Self-Propelled guns, Tanks and APCs. It's a hobby and sometimes it develops into a business when they start trading stuff among themselves. By definition, if you are collecting this kind of equipment, you need large sheds, transporters and plenty of land to drive them around on without upsetting the neighbors.

I don't reckon there is anything to worry about here....

I don't know a lot about tanks, but isn't the one in the picture an antique?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1466182

It might well be. I suspect you know more about them than me.

I've been told, though, that tanks sold to collectors have the barrel(s) filled with cement.

If you download those pics and magnify them, you'll see that even the machine gun barrel in the hull of the tank at left is covered with a mothballing material, perhaps "protectapeel".

That seems rather odd if the barrels are plugged with cement already, doesn't it?

Regarding the possible antique status of a tank--doesn't really matter how old they are, if the bores not cemented, does it? Decommissioned tanks that are officially off the books but never were deactivated would be perfect to quietly pre-position in case of enemy attack or TEOTWAWKI.
