Maybe these tanks will be part of his security force when TSHTF?

All the wealthy can afford to spend big bucks on their security while the rest of us will be left fending off looters with our baseballs bats and glocks.

Boy, that's the truth, isn't it?

I suppose an AA tank would be ridiculously effective at crowd-control against baseball and Glock-wielding hordes or controlling a mountain pass with autos trying to come over it. It'd be horrendous.

You'd think that but you'd be wrong. I know lot's of guys with barrett .50bmg's with AP and incendiary rounds... they would be effective against something that old.

That's nice, but is absolutely peripheral to the fact of the existence of these things in private hands. From what little reading about WW2 I've done, doesn't seem to be any encounters listed where a .50 machine gun was terribly effective against tanks. If there'd been, 20mm antitank rounds would never have bothered to have been invented.

It's absolutely peripheral to the question of "are the barrels deactivated?".

It's peripheral to the fact that if TSHTF, anyone with one of these things is gonna be doing a whole lot of whatever they might want to do, whereas people like me with my Ford F-150 are pretty much going to be SOL when it comes to holding a mountain pass.

I was doing some study online, and it seems that the average life expectancy of any tank in a full-blown encounter on a modern battlefield is three minutes. So, no tank fares well in that situation.
