“Right now, prices of gold stocks are lagging the spot price of gold, and mining companies are generally producing good earnings reports which is confounding,” observes Clark. “New Gold is down on the stock market by a much greater amount than the spot price of gold is down from its high.”

The company recently reiterated its guidance for 2012; it forecasts gold production of 405,000 to 445,000 ounces at a total cash cost per ounce sold, net of by-product sales of $410.00 to $430.00 an ounce, reports Clark.
