Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1379065When NASA's Dawn probe enters into orbit around Vesta on July 15 — the first spacecraft to visit the 330-mile-wide (530-kilometer) protoplanet — it promises to shed light on the many enigmas of the second-largest body in the asteroid belt. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1467813I don't believe the chances are that great,if any. if they can send a probe there, then they can get bruce willis to sort it out :) Nah, they should send Arnold. He could "Huff and'a puff and'a breik ze huol azterioid duon". The guy who I bought my piece of Tatahouine meteorite from, well I dont know how they did it but the pictures of it on the site looked like bright green crystals and rock. Its one of the meteorites classed as from Vesta [link to www.spacerocksuk.com] [link to www.imca.cc] [link to 207.56.99.163] Last Edited by Fhirinne on 07/15/2011 08:08 PM You are the CEO of your own wellness. | Mack User ID: 1104413 07/15/2011 08:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bright green minerals suggest Olivine, a mineral that occurs in the mantle here on Earth. Another bright green mineral is Malachite, an oxide of Copper. The first would be the most likely because Vesta probably is the remnant of a much larger body that was disrupted in the early days of the solar system. Before that happened it differentiated into layers of dense and light minerals. If the mineral is malachite then Vesta was a part of a body large enough for liquid water with dissolved oxygen before it's breakup. The rupture was most likely by collision with another object. |

Thread: Scientists: Ceres and Vesta Have Noticeable Effects on the Earth! From Astronomy & Astrophysics: [link to www.aanda.org] Strong chaos induced by close encounters with Ceres and Vesta Ceres and Vesta gravitationally interact with the Earth, whose orbit also becomes unpredictable after only 60 million years. This means that the Earth's eccentricity, which affects the large climatic variations on its surface, cannot be traced back more than 60 million years ago. This is indeed bad news for Paleoclimate studies. Hatred is a cancer upon the world. It rots the mind and blackens the heart. Hi! My name is Halcyon Dayz and I'm addicted to morans. |
