There seems to be a misunderstanding on the end date of the 16.4 billion year Mayan calender that started at the big bang and ends at a zero point on either October 28, 2011 or December 21st, 2012. Which one is it? I'm a bit confused.

That depends on whether you accept the "year" as 365 days (Gregorian), or 360 days (early civilization until 8th century BC)?

It is confusing and controversial, but Carl Calleman's interpretation makes the most sense to me,

clip: The second reason that we may understand the December 21, 2012 date to be wrong is that it falls on the tzolkin day 4 Ahau, since this is not a completion energy. It must fall on a date that is 13 Ahau, since this is the tzolkin energy towards which all the tzolkin energies are moving. This may be a more difficult argument to grasp than that the beginning of the traditional Long Count is based on a local tradition. To realize that the actual enddate must fall on an energy that is a 13 Ahau date essentially requires of someone that he or she for a relatively long time have followed exclusively the true tzolkin count. Only in that way would one be able to personally experience the energy shifts, and unfortunately not so many people do that. If people mix two different counts that we may be certain that there is too much confusion for the actual energy shifts to be felt. Yet, it is important to know that Don Alejandro speaks about a prophecy of the return of 13 Ahau that seems to have survived through the ages. Carlos Cedillo also alerted me to a passage in the Book of Chilam Balam of Chumayel that describes the energy of 13 Ahau as follows: "Holy completion of time, truly" - a statement not found regarding any other tzolkin energy in these prophetic Mayan books written a few hundred years ago. From a knowledge of the tzolkin it simply seems logical that the true Mayan calendar should end on a day that has the energy of 13 Ahau.

The placement of the enddate of this creation at the particular 13 Ahau energy of October 28, 2011 is supported by what seems to be a correction made in Palenque to the original Izapan Long Count several hundred years later. Most likely the priests of Palenque, who obviously meticulously followed the true tzolkin count then started to feel that there was something wrong with the correlation between the Izapan Long Count and the tzolkin.

Now with all the Elenin prophecies around October 26, I am more convinced than ever that Oct. 28, 2011 is the correct date.

elenin is supposed to have an alignment around oct 28th and supposedly the final alignment before its on its way out is on dec 21 2012...

just something i saw though on a website, i'd post a link but it was a while ago maybe someone else can back that up....

but what do we know. i'd honestly like for it to happen now while its summer so i don't freeze AND riot and die a cold death. i'd rather die on some grass than snow...

especially with all this crap about the water rising all over the coasts, which is freaky because aloooot of coastlines have monolithic structures submerged not too far away...

who wants to starve riot freeze and flood?

not this space monkey, no sir

I watched a documentary that was done in the 70's I think, in which "Spock" AKA Lenard Nimoy narrated..
The documentary was about the Mayan Calendar.
Spock said the end date of the calendar was Oct 28, 2011.
Who to believe?
Government?
Todays' news reporters?
Spock?
I choose to believe Spock!

Thank you for that information, it's revelatory.

That means that there are only 3 months until the completion of time...yet what of the Novelty Thoery/Timewave Zero which has the zero point being the 12/21/12 date?

I looked up your John Major Jenkins. He believes the world will not come to an end in 2012.. Spock did not say the world would come to an end on Oct 28, 2011.. he said it was the end date of the Mayan Calendar, not the end of the world. Others, based on their own information, have determined that the world will end. Who knows, it may work the same as our own annual calendars.. at the end of the year, we get a new calendar and start a new year. So at the end of the Mayan calendar, we may just start it over again.
I do think the coming days will prove to be interesting and not boring! There are just too many oddities to ignore them all!
