A compass will point north, It's really Plus and minus, (remember they're POLES) and plus and minus doesn't change because you move around. BUT it will also do something called a "compass dip". the card, or needle, is balanced for the field of a northern or southern hemisphere use. A NH compass brought south of the equator will dip one end, often enough to ground out inside the housing and give off bad readings. And vice versa. Look up "compass dip" on google for more. You'll also find a compass called a dip compass, which works up and down. A dip compass will point straight up when you stand at the poles. |

Toilets in the Northern hemisphere flush Counter Clock wise.. In the Southern Hemisphere.. They Flush Clockwise? If this is true?... will it remain true when we pass from the Northern Galactic Hemisphere to the southern Galactic Hemisphere in 2012? |

Quoting: LecaroOne has nothing to do with the other. Anyhoo, the Solar system is in the Northern Galactic Hemisphere and is moving north. So it passed quite a while ago. While the coriolis effect is real, it is far too small a force to be seen in a toilet that use powerful jets of water to wash waste down. It is seen in hurricanes and long range artillery fire. |
