You may have injured your knees without realizing it. I know sometimes I develop seemingly mysterious acute pains in various joints, then after scratching my head over it for a while I will recall that I did some unusual physical movement moving furniture or running or during some other physical activity. You may have done something that you have forgotten about which put extra strain on your knees and now they are telling you to take it easy on them for a while.
