Has anyone ever experienced watching a soul leave a body? I think I did
Years ago, I watched a guy die on the floor in front of me. Heart attack. The ambulance was on the way and till then, there was a nurse attempting CPR. But, she wasn't doing it well, hence, his death.

Anyway, I think I watched him expire because I saw a smokey mist leave his mouth and dissipate.

It just was a gut feeling that I had that night that it was his soul. Very weird day that was.

Yes it's very possible. Wow that would have been something. I've only ever seen dead bodies after the soul has left. They look like empty vessels and you get the gut feeling that there's nobody in there.

Sure. The eyes don't match the body at first.

And what I saw wasn't dramatic. It was a very fine mist, kinda like when you can see your breath in the cold, but less. And it behaved a little differently. Wish I could describe it better.

Other people have described the same thing as you. They said it was like a "vapour of fine smoke" departing from the body. All spirit is made up of energy which vibrates at a higher frequency.

Yosira taught that within each man resides a little man who is the Lord of the Body, and this is the life of men. While man sleeps the little man wanders abroad to journey as it will, at death departing from him forever.

The Lord of the Body cannot be seen by mortal eyes, but it is not hidden from all seeing eyes of the Twice Born. When departing at death it comes out from the mortal mouth, waiting awhile until it grows celestial wings. Then it flies away to the Western Kingdom where the wings are shed.

If you weight a person's body as it dies with a very fine measure, you will notice a loss of weight

That's what I read anyway, not sure how much but it could be measured.

the first time I witnessed exactly what you described, I went with a friend to the vet's. He was putting down his female pitbull dog. I saw a wisp of smoke leave her head and ascend a few moments after she was injected.

Probably due minor loss of fluids, I wouldn't argue that the soul creates some kind of weight on the body as it isn't material supposedly.

thankyou for reporting that because dogs etc do indeed have souls. My friend saw her dog leave too. And when I had my cat put down, she joined me in my car on the way home, happy to be relieved of her old body.
OP did you blame that on the nurse? or as that a slip of the typing. When the soul is ready to go, CPR or not, it goes.

This was a common experience of veterans of the Vietnam War, regardless of nationality. Although I have heard variations of the story, in which the vapor/mist seems to come out of the chest, or stomach area. Maybe this has to do with chakra points and where that person's energy was focused during life.

Re: Has anyone ever experienced watching a soul leave a body? I think I did
According to the Bhagvat Gita, the soul is indestructible and eternal (2.18) It neither slays not can it be slain (2.19). It is never born, never dies and after coming into existence never ceases to be. It is nitya (always), sasvatah (permanent), purana (very ancient) (2.20). At the time of death the soul does not die. It just leaves the body and then enters into a new one (2.22). Weapons cannot pierce it, fire cannot burn it, water cannot moisten it and wind cannot dry it (2.23). It is unpiercible, incombustible, all-pervading, stable and immobile (2.24). It is invisible, incognizible and immutable (2.25).

No one exactly know what soul is. One looks at It with great surprise, another speaks about It with great surprise, another hears about It with incredulity and yet another after hearing about It knows it not (2.29). The soul is superior to everything else in the human being. It is said that the senses are great, greater than the senses is the mind, greater than the mind is buddhi and greater than the buddhi is the Self (3.42).

The soul residing in the body is referred as the indwelling witness the Adhiyagna. We are told that when Purusha, also known as the Adhidaiva (Controlling Deity), resides in the body as the inner witness, He is becomes Adhiyagna or the Seat of Sacrifice(8.4). The mental condition in which the soul leaves the body at the time of death is very important, because whatever the person thinks of at that time, that alone he achieves thereafter (8.6). Thus if someone departs from the body thinking of God alone, he would undoubtedly attain Him (8.5, 12 &13).

The soul in the body is different from Jiva (the living entity). The striving yogi perceives Him, as seated in the body enjoying the sense objects, united with the gunas, departing the body at the time of death, but the ignorant ones whose hearts are impure, do not perceive so even after much striving.(15.11&12).

Self-realization is the ultimate goal of yoga or spiritual discipline. That condition is the aim of all yoga, in which through the practice of yoga, the mind become stilled, in which the self behold the Self within and is absorbed in the Self, in which the yogi finds supreme ecstasy (6.21-22). And when the yogi develops the unified and holistic vision through the practice of yoga, he sees the Self in all and all in the Self (6.29).

The soul is bound to the body and to the illusory world through attachment arising out of the interplay of the three gunas (14.5). When through yoga the indwelling soul overcomes the triple gunas, He becomes free from birth and death, old age and sorrow and attains immortality (14.20). This in brief is the description of soul in the Bhagvat Gita.

No. I don't blame her. But, the entire episode shook me up mostly because I felt helpless to do anything. After I called 911, I couldn't do anything but watch the others work on the guy. So, I prayed. But I wish I could've done more.
Anyway, that helpless feeling prompted me to take CPR classes so next time, I'll know what to do.
What I learned at the class was that the body will go into a gasping motion, fooling you into thinking that the person is breathing.
See, our guy wasn't breathing at first. But then, the nurse started to work on him and he went into this gasping motion, sounding like he really was getting air. So, every stopped the CPR and just said encouraging things like "you're doing great buddy. Hang in there. The ambulance is on it's way."
In CPR class I learned that it was a mistake to stop CPR and be fooled by his gasps. Anyway, I think that since none of us knew CPR properly, even the nurse, he died.
A defibrillator would've helped too.
So, as they as sat at his side saying encouraging things, and I was quietly praying, I watched the mist leave.
Then the ambulance showed up but they couldn't do anything.

19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

saw my mothers 'energy' leave her body at death - I looked up and felt her sense of release. For couple of weeks after I had visitations from mum in my dreams, so did my brother, Mum shared stuff that only we would know, it gave me faith in life beyond the physical.

slightly off subject but... at a funeral the partner of the departed took a canoe out in the ocean and let the ashes fly out of the jar to go in to the ocean.... and I saw a huge field of light blue around all the ashes (which cold barely be detectable if not for this blue field) I think the departed had not totally left...

I was holding my mom's hand when she died in the hospice.....I didn't see anything, but I knew the instant her soul was set free...one second I was looking at my mom and the next second, a empty vessel.....hard to explain but emotionally I felt the difference as a certainty.....like a switch being thrown....
