Why did it say dangerous then? Is it calculating accumulative
exposure?

so, great. i finally get to put my own garden in and i've screwed myself royal.

ar-15 nut has had high readings from michigan for quite awhile.

i suppose since i have already been dumped on so many times, i should just eat what i've grown. my peas are almost ready to pick and my lettice is ready to go.

fuck, i am so mad. i've been out in the rain. rained hard several times here yesterday. i try to stay out of it, but when i have to take my parents to doctor appointments, it has to happen.

so, i'll be strong and keep going until i can no longer do so. i'll try to be happy i got to make a garden at least one time. i'll love my family and friends.

will it be wrong if i give my extra produce to the senior center, like my dad has for many, many years?

what to do, my fellow glper's?

please don't shill me. i'm already upset. if you don't have anything real to add, just leave me alone. i already am having a hard time dealing with what i have to do every day.

Calm down .my readings are not high. They are above normal background yes but not high enough to cause any immediate
health issues .todays reading is 0.16usv/hr here is a chart for you on doses
Symptoms of acute radiation (dose received within one day):[4]

* 0 – 0.25 Sv (0 – 250 mSv): None
* 0.25 – 1 Sv (250 – 1000 mSv): Some people feel nausea and loss of appetite; bone marrow, lymph nodes, spleen damaged.
* 1 – 3 Sv (1000 – 3000 mSv): Mild to severe nausea, loss of appetite, infection; more severe bone marrow, lymph node, spleen damage; recovery probable, not assured.
* 3 – 6 Sv (3000 – 6000 mSv): Severe nausea, loss of appetite; hemorrhaging, infection, diarrhea, peeling of skin, sterility; death if untreated.
* 6 – 10 Sv (6000 – 10000 mSv): Above symptoms plus central nervous system impairment; death expected.
* Above 10 Sv (10000 mSv): Incapacitation and death.

It's in Alberta Canada. Here is the chart and that amount of radiation is the same as a spinal x-ray.

I always thought that Canadians, like the Aussies and Kiwis are very eco conscious, and therefore there would be more people that are monitoring the skies than other countries, but the US seems to be the most forward thinking nation, as there are many who are monitoring using their own equipment.

I really do hope that there is not radiation at these levels and increasing, as it could mean the slow and painful deaths of many billions, and it will only require a few more dodgy reactors and meltdowns before the world is killed off by the 6th global extinction level event, but this time with the accolade that it was caused entirely by man.

Talk about throwing stones at your own windows whilst living in a glasshouse.

This post is incorrect. His geiger counter is reading mcSv/h (Micro-sievert's per hour) (µSv)which is the lower reading on the chart. According to the chart 1.0 Micro-sievert (µSv) is the same as sitting in front of a crt monitor for a year. 1.68 Micro-sievert's (µSv) would be a bit worse then that.

1000 Micro-Sieverts (uSv) is the same as 1.0 MilliSieverts (mSv).

10 MilliSievert (msv) is the same as 1 Rem.

LAKE LOUISE IS IN SOUTHWEST ALBERTA IN THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS, ON THE BORDER BETWEEN BRITISH COLUMBIA AND ALBERTA. AS ANOTHER POSTER POINTED OUT, IT'S PRISTINE WILDERNESS UP THERE. THE LAND IN THE AREA IS CROWN LAND (OWNED BY THE QUEEN), WHICH MEANS IT CANNOT BE DEVELOPED BEYOND THE NECESSITIES OF A TOURIST DESITINATION. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN LIVE THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE (AT HOTELS, GAS STATION, RESTAURANTS, ETC.). IT'S PART OF BANFF NATIONAL PARK, AND ONE OF CANADA'S GREAT NATURAL JEWELS.

hahahah whoever says this is a problem is an idiot who cant do math

Average radiation dose for N.A = 3.0 mSv/yr

3.0 mSv/yr * 1000 uSv/mSv / 365 d/y / 24h/d = 0.4 uSv/h

Let's be clear: THE ANNUAL HOURLY AVERAGE OF RADIATION FOR ALL NORTH AMERICAN RESIDENTS IS 0.4 MICRO SIEVERTS PER HOUR.

Why are you morons crying about a rad level found in one particular place at one particular time that is 4 times higher? Four times is well within expected excursion levels. For example that particular location may see as low as 0.1 uSv/h (in other words, FOUR TIMES LOWER for you people who can't do math) at other times of the year due to atmospheric, universal, or anthropogenic conditions.

A few weeks ago I posted this:

but now the 4.5 roentgen figure has doubled to 9 roentgen!

I don't know if anyone can answer this but, I can not watch any video's with the subject nuclear radiation in u.s. It will stop 15 seconds in. This has happened on 4 other threads. This worries me...!! I live in Montana and it rains every other day here. Has there been a kill switch in place on video's of radiation??? WTF, Why can I watch other video's just fine but, when it comes down to the radiation ones......WTF!! Is anyone else have problems also, or Am I just losing it???? rant

Be patient. Your video will continue after it downloads into your buffer. I usually hit the pause button and let the whole thing download while I browse elsewhere. I hope this helps.

It's not immediately dangerous high, although it's obviously elevated from contamination. It needs addressing, as being exposed to that in a continuous living environment isn't acceptable (although some places in the middle east have background higher than that) by modern understanding of exposure.

I get 0.14 McSv/hr where I live, have done for years.

No radiation is acceptable, the minimum the better, and every household should have equipment for monitoring ionising radiation.
