What are the best places to live in MONTANA? What jobs are available?

ALL PRETTY SIMILAR. BIG CHOICE IS BETWEEN WEST (MOUNTAINS) AND EAST (PLAINS).

Don't listen to these guys. If you really want to get out and start fresh, jump in the car. Montana really is the last great place. I'm not joking when I say I still see "Help Wanted" signs in Billings. While the other places like Bozeman, Missoula, and Kalispell are awesome, Billings is the largest city, so to me, that equals more opportunity. Also, people out here are more willing to give people a shot than in the large cities. Make the move man, you won't regret it....

I grew up in Dayton, Montana. It's on the west shore of a large lake, so if you lived there you would have access to not only well water, but also water from the lake. Low population centers around where I was. Not enough people to cause trouble like in a big metro area. However, be aware, it is hard to come by anything other than a service sector job. You should make sure you have money if you go there. You see, retired people move in with their retirement money, and this has a tendency to inflate the value of real-estate. Not so much so around Dayton, but watch out for Missoula (south of there about 90 miles), and Kalispell (north about 30 miles). The people there are wonderful, but again, you're not gonna make much money selling firewood as someone on here suggested. You either bring your money, or live a fairly cheap existence and work at a service sector job. Good luck - it is beautiful there, and you will enjoy it I think.

I wrote about Dayton, but I agree to an extent here, you will probably find more jobs around Billings. This is also a beautiful area, but again, if you're trying to get away from the large metro areas, I would shy away from Billings and stick more towards more rural areas, like Dayton, Missoula (though Missoula is growing fast - my wife's father lives in Hamilton, just south of Missoula), or Kalispell. Eastern Montana is kind of desolate like someone on here mentioned....

Oil boom in the east makes temporary work. Helps Billings economy.

If you are mechanically inclined the wheat ranchers are doing well. Diesel repair and hydraulics and welding.

All the ranchers are using those small 4 X 4s to get around and check herds and set water. If you can repair those, that will keep you busy all of the spring, summer, and fall months. Find a small town with weak or no repair facility for small engines in general.

Sure he did, community organizing and a failed attempt at president. He is getting an early start looking for new fertile ground to spoil, the wood cutting doesn't sound good though......it brings back some bad memories. (seems a close relative once hid in a pile of wood and didn't come out of the chipper well)

Go one state east, the homes are cheap, lots of jobs in every sector, independent, and nice people.

wyoming is cheap

Look up oil field work I do bilieve the is some. Some oil jobs start around 25 an hr. to 1100 hundred a day.
