Incarcerated Inmates Sue Jail For $1,000 A Day Because They Are So Hungry At Night All They Can do Is Ball Up And Cry In Pain
[link to www.kcrg.com]

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Three inmates at the Black Hawk County jail in Waterloo have filed federal lawsuits claiming their civil rights are being violated by skimpy meals.

The Des Moines Register says the lawsuits filed earlier this month allege that small amounts of food and a 5:30 p.m. suppertime add up to a mid-evening hunger that constitutes "cruel and unusual punishment."

The lawsuits, filed by inmates Tony Grider, Jessie Davis and Charles Mack Jr, said their jail's meal plan is far inferior other jails'. They're seeking $1,000 per day for pain and suffering caused by hunger...

...Davis said in a hand-printed letter to a federal court clerk that he is "so hungry at night all I can do is ball up and cry from the pain it's causing me. And if another inmate tries to help and give another inmate any food or drink items, they're punished by jail staff."

Skimpy meals are turrible, just turrible.

Somebody neglected to tell these gents that if they kept on getting' into trouble and breakin' the law, it would only lead to one thing: incarceration. They would have no more carefree hours; no more doin' what they wanted to when they wanted to; no more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It is definitely no fun when that iron door clangs shut on you.

I wouldn't classify hunger as being "painful" (from my experience, anyway).

If Iowa's having that problem, they may be right to feed less food, so the inmates cannot bulk up like that. Becoming the meanest motherfucker in town should not be a prisoner's right.

These boys seem to know their jails and jailhouse cuisine. If they say its skimpy I'll have to take their word for it. For fucks sake they only get three fucking dry ass cookies at dinner time and hardly a drop of juice to wash it down with. That's criminal in itself.

We all need to watch the outcome of this case. The prison industry in the United States will boom over the next decade as multinational corporations turn to prison slave labor in America to keep profits climbing.

We are already seeing Americans locked up for growing their own food. More and more daily activities will be classified as illegal to satisfy the corporate demand for prison labor.

Jail/prison (serving time) is where one goes AS punishment.

Jail/prison is not where you go FOR punishment.

Hunger is not why you are sent to jail when you commit a crime.

Jail is also the holding place while people go through the judicial system. Presumed innocent until guilty, starvation can readily be seen as a way to 'torture' confessions out of people.

Considering how many innocent people may actually be accepting a plea bargain due to how that "system" works, we have to wonder if hunger is not going to push more people to 'accept a plea' to reduce their sentence in order to make it end sooner.

Plea bargaining and the innocent:

Why Innocent People Confess
It's not a breakdown of American justice. It's American justice working as designed.

Which is EXACTLY what the government wants from you.

Ask yourself this, why is there all of these 'police/crime' shows on TV? CSI, Bones, Cops, yada yada yada - every night nearly every channel has a police-state propaganda show going.

Its to make it to where people believe that trial by jury is taking place (98% of cases never go to trial).

Its to make you believe that inmates are animals (Mind all of those prison shows are only focused on the worse prisons).

You have been slowly brain washed to view 'justice' as being good.

I went without tv for 17 years.

It was quite enlightening upon returning to the tube to see the denigration of the human body, which is all that's being portrayed in those shows. Standard fare. Wasn't so 17 years ago, as bad as it was then, it wasn't monstrous yet.

The public's health and well-being is so not being served by constant images from a morgue of flayed bodies. It's not entertainment, but "something else".

My guess is all the shows you mentioned have some serious "black" funding/writers and are servicing an agenda of desensitization and dehumnanization.

what do you want to bet that this is a for-profit prison? all you folks who are screaming for 'justice?' better realize that the prison industry is a big-money business and fat cat investors influence the judicial system to stock their prisons.

wait 'til the money really dries up and prisoners are fed horse meat from the blm.

you think that's not part of the plan??

Thirteenth amendment:

"Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

As you can see, Slavery was never abolished in this country. All that was done was to make slavvery a instrument of the government. In other words, slavery was no longer a private institution, but was nationalized.

Under the wording or the Thirteenth amendment, the government could easily sell all the people they have incarcerated out to private concerns for their labor. (but only for the length of time of the punishment One woould suppose...)

I say let them cook their own damn food! Frealz, introduce them to the George Formann grill, set up a personal bar (no larger than 6x6), add a minifridge, a couple of rocking chairs, and a checker set from Cracker Barrel. If that don't do the trick, fuck it.
