Anonymous Coward User ID: 1478589 United Kingdom 07/22/2011 07:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I want to thank you OP for a very good find. It makes perfect sense, "atmospheric heating occuring due to the exhaust from the volcanoes, causing the oceans to warm, leading to the melting of ice crystals at the bottom of the sea that hold onto methane". Methane released. Methane could be a ligitimate reason why we have had so many beached whales or huge fish die offs. It's the most plausible! Most of the news stories about dead fish tell us that they died from a lack of oxygen. More methane has been released and we've got dead fish and dolphins turning up on the Gulf Coast, in fact they're turning up all over the place. You've given me a new insight into what's going on. Want to thank the other posters for their links too. |

Yet when there is a thread with real scientific evidence from real scientists and not a guy on youtube, it gets ignored. I have seen people complaining all day today about religious people ruining this site. The truth is, if this site is trending downward it is because no one gives credence to real issues. They just want to discuss their fantasy doom. Not that I give a shit about pinning. Just sayin'. I posted a thread concerning 3 million radioactive shipments annually on the highways and rails and got 5 views. Not to mention all the good threads I bump which interest me that never go anywhere, either. If we would consider this forum a microcosm of society, maybe that could explain the apathy when dealing with the major problems we are facing. Nobody wants to face them. Delusions and fantasy are more interesting. What I call the Hollywood mentality. Escapism. |

If it is released we are in big trouble. We're not talking cow farts here. Quoting: WaterbugMassive amounts I read, and trapped in ice. And let's not forget the methane stored in the permafrost. If the crystalline methane on the ocean floor goes, you can bet the methane in the permafrost goes too. I REALLY wouldn't want to be around on this planet for the next centuries then... Exponential greenhouse effect, algues growing, sulfuric gasses released in atmosphere and bammmmmmmmm... we're finished. Doomtards would better be looking and reading on this thread. Problem Solved User ID: 1447152 United States 07/22/2011 09:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I read an article about this some time ago. There is a large amount of methane in the ocean depths. If it is released we are in big trouble. We're not talking cow farts here. Quoting: WaterbugAye, Waterbug. We are talking billion of tons of it just ready to bubble up if the temperature of the oceans goes up just a few degrees!! It is not just temperature. The water pressure at depth counts. Soooo if you have an Ice Age the sea level drops a couple hundred feet, the pressure goes down and the methane comes out. Then I suppose that the greenhouse methane melts the polar caps ending that particular ice age. Methane ice begins to form on the ocean bottom again and the cycle starts over. |
