I find it despicable that they want to take Social Security, Medicare, and Medicade from the middle class and poor while keeping the bush tax cuts, tax loopholes, subsidies, and other incentives off the table in the debt ceiling discussions.

WE pay MORE than our fair share with stagnant salaries while the rich and the big corporations pull in billions of dollars in profit while some companies are paying NO TAX at all, and others pay shamefully low taxes or hide off-shore.

Isn't it time for the big boys and girls to start feeling some of the pain and sacrifice?

YOU obviously don't give a chit.

Do you have a job, own a home, pay taxes on anything?

Do your Mother or Father collect Social Security? Are they healthy? Do they need the benefits of Medicare or Medicaide?

Do you have ANY commonsense?

Re: Why do Boehner & Republican/Tea Party want DEEP cuts but don't want to raise taxes on the wealthy and big $ corporations?
disclaimer: i think the entire government system is corrupt and backed by special interests on both sides.

that said, here is the republican argument. you can not raise taxes on corporations. if you do, the cost is just pushed on to the consumer. imagine you sell tomatoes. they cost you 1 dollar to grow and you sell them for two dollars. the government decides to create a tomato tax of 50 cents. as a business owner you will just raise your price by 50 cents to 2.50 so you can still make your 1 dollar profit.

now also consider we only get 1/3 of the money we as a country spend from taxes. the rest comes from selling treasuries (adding to our debt). this is like making 100$ a week and borrowing 200$ a week in order to pay for your costs of living 300$ a week. what makes the most sense is to reduce your expenditures to 100$ a week instead of impossibly trying to make an extra 200$ a week when you are already working so many hours you are getting blisters and getting sick.

Once again, this sounds right but no one is talking about reducing our biggest debt problems.

INSANE military spending (more than the rest of the world combined)
1.4 QUADRILLION dollar derivatives market created by wall street.
100 trillion dollars of unfunded liabilities of future SS and medicare.
Giants worthless government sectors that have done NOTHING for us (dept of education, energy etc)
the GIGANTIC HIDDEN TAX on our dollar created by federal reserve based inflation.

our dollar has lost 98% of its value in the last 100 years. it is part of a devious system to transfer wealth from the common man to a very small group of evil bankers.

start by watching the cartoon "The American Dream" on youtube.

I still think your solution will need to involve cutting deeply into military spending, and not taking away grandma's cheques..

But those plutocrats who control the West surely won't let that happen, else how would they force their way upon others without that which your military money goes to, their own private army?

Clearly.

And clearly in denial of what the TeaBirchers, the Fascist Koch brothers, the Globalists, the Banksters, the Corporations, and the Crazy Right are doing to this country.

They've been waging Class Warfare for decades, and have won every major battle. This is their final assault of the Middle Class. They've dominated the GOP, and are aided and enabled, of course, by the craven Democratic Party (who are making fat bank on all this, too). They've created a massive crisis, and now they are making use of it.

The TeaBirchers will be rabid, and screaming for blood when their Gubmint checks don't come at the top of the month, from the VA, DoD and Federal Retirement Pensions, and Social Security. When they are furloughed from their government jobs, or their government-dependent job without pay. Maybe then, they'll figure out how horribly they've been duped and used.

The GAO knows where the majority of the trillions of $ spent since GWB took office.

Why doesn't congress demand an accounting of that and then force those organizations to undergo a microscopic audit of those dollars. good chance that those $ will have been spent on "DEFENSE" with significant kickbacks to our "lawmakers"

"that said, here is the republican argument. you can not raise taxes on corporations. if you do, the cost is just pushed on to the consumer."

Which is why the little guy will never win this war. Every single component of the capitalist society figured this out a very long time ago. Pass the buck (taxes, costs, etc.) along to the consumer. Charge more for the product while keeping the business' kitty intact. Decrease the size of the product and charge the same or more.

Where does it end? Some new regulations???

I most wholeheartedly agree regards the military spending. Call all our troops home, GIVE THEM JOBS, stop all payola to foreign governments/concerns EXCEPT for humanitarian aid administered by groups such as Doctors Without Borders or other credible groups, and stop playing police officer/enforcer for the rest of the world.

The problem with congresscritters is there is NO TERM LIMIT on them, and if a change to perhaps two terms in D.C. we wouldn't see the bushchit that's going on now.

Cuts, yes, some. But not unless the big money and the wealthy sacrifice, too.

The sheer absurdity of cutting Social Security, when the elderly can't make it right now, is mind boggling.

I hope the seniors are getting motivated to action! They should all be making phone calls and visits to their congresscritters and hammering home the stories of their own plights.

It shocks me that anyone who isn't a member of the ruling class would ever vote for a Republican. They take advantage of people's fears and take up their "moral issues" to get votes. If people voted solely on their handling of the economy, they'd never get a vote again.

I should have saved an article I read yesterday or this morning, MonkeyFister, because it detailed red state by red state the fact that those who will be hurt the most are those Republican states who are still somewhat silent on the issue of deep cuts to SS, Medicare, and Medicaide.

They will be taking to the pulpits and screaming in the streets without a clue as to who betrayed them. I agree.

For you that like to complain jealosly about the rich and corporations... stop buying their goods and services.
I am tired of the "it isn't fair" cries. I earned my money and prefer not to give it to someone else through government redistribution.
And keep my social security. I don't want it nor will I need it.

You want my money. Pay for my services.

Remember the "pallets" of money missing when bush had us in the Iraq war?

$12 BILLION IN CASH - GONE!!

In 2003 nearly 281 million $100 bills, weighing 363 tons, were sent from New York to Baghdad for supposed distribution to Iraqi officials and USA contractors.

The delivery of these shrink-wrapped pallets used C-130 planes, and were delivered once or twice a month with the biggest haul of $2,401,600,000 on June 22 2004, six days before the handover.

Big rush towards the end, WHY?

We can thank bush for that incredible, never accounted for bushchit!
