It should be illegal to discriminate based on credit score or even check someone's credit to get a job.

I've never heard of potential employees checking your credit score here. After all, they're fucking paying you not lending you money so what is the fucking point of that

I have had no family to support me in my 39 years. Random people and some distant relatives took up the slack. I did everything possible to better myself. Top high-school grad, even though I went thru about 40 schools moving so much. Joined Army..graduated distinguished honor graduate. Excelled as a soldier. Got college money. Earned a B.S. degree in environmental science in four years. GraduAted Aug.11,2001. One month later hiring freeze. After two kids a divorce and two failed business attempts, I am done.
They just about broke me. I will be homeless again at the end of the month.

If there is no law that says that you cannot discriminate based-on poor credit or $$, there is no law that says that you must, (sell to the beast?)....

I mean, if you can discriminate, if you can charge people more money on a car payment or mortgage because they are poor......you can do the same in reverse.

It's common in the good ole USA. Sad part is the big corporations are not "allowed"to fail. I

I have lost out on jobs too because of my credit score.

With all the unemployed folks and less jobs available, they have to find some way to weed out employees. Hell every company now that posts hiring is flooded with applications.

Drug testing isn't enough to weed out employees now so they have to resort to credit scores. What's next?

The problem does not start with checking credit reports.

The problem starts with the way credit is handled in the first place, both by the loaner and the borrower.

For starters, let's talk about interest rates.

Throughout my years of working with people in their homes, I have noticed that as well.

When I go into a huge house, nice cars, they just look like they have money, the people are fucking idiots. They are rude, nasty, and generally borderline retarded.

I would rather go into a lower or middle class neighborhood any day. I go into a smaller home where it's obvious they don't have much money, I have nice times. The people offer me food, drink, they want to talk to me. I have had people offer me TV's, Stereo's computers. I have had people cook me dinner. But ALWAYS in a lower or middle class home that is smaller than average. In a big home forget it.

Not only are rich people rude and idiots(asking 5 thousand questions repeatedly) they don't offer you shit. I would be working my ass off sweating they won't offer one drop of water.

Fuck the rich.

Vesper don't give up. I too am alone in this struggle . Had a great interview this week. Aced all the testing. Showed pevious tax returns to verify success in sales . The wife is excited. Got an email yesterday. Thank you but we have decided to go in a different direction etc... Don't have the heart to disappoint her again .

Yesterday I went to apply for a job online with a big discount/grocery retailer here (Fred Meyer), got a half hour into the online application to the part where they wanted me to take a 17 page psychological assessment test.

This before the application is even submitted or considered.

I backed out. I don't normally use the word or concept "Satanic" to describe things, but Satanic fits in this case.

It makes me feel differently about shopping there. I don't want to support that system that requires people to submit to a battery of psychological assessment tests with a third party dossier company "consumer reporting agency" Kronos.com

I think I might have to make more of a point of shopping with family owned businesses. Not that my non existent disposable income will make a difference, but I guess it's the principle of the thing and integrity.

This! Employers who do that should be fined $50.000 immediately transferable to would-be employee.

I've been around the rich much of my life, have lived amongst them, worked for them, really been on both sides of the rich/poor lines. Poor people are nicer, they care more, and are far less likely to be egotistical to the point so many wealthy people are. Look at LA and Hollywood. They are vampiric. Money works to go into the hands of psychopaths and psi vampires. Simple as that the whole system does need to crumble. The rich will bitch but they will loose in the coming years, they deserve exactly what's coming.

jobs handling finances and sensitive, critical data.

Insurance companies also look at credit scores.
The lower your credit score the higher the premium.
