The first principle of value that we need to rediscover is this: that all reality hinges on moral foundations. In other words, that this is a moral universe, and that there are moral laws of the universe just as abiding as the physical laws....And we no longer pay any attention to them.... When we pick and choose among which of GOD'S laws we choose to obey, we discover later that we have set aside something precious in the process.To realize the distinction between pretending you are better than you are, and actually being better in reality is the first step to ones awakening. Always do what is right. It will gratify half of mankind and astound the others.Never concede to evil.When we concede to evil, even in a small way, we feed it, and it grows stronger.For us to be ignored by God is a much harsher punishment than to be a victim of His chastisement.How wonderful it would be if people did all they could for one other without seeking anything in return! One should never remember a kindness done, and never forget a kindness received.People need a moral code, to help them make decisions.But the problem is that we have got it all backwards. It's not that you do the right thing and hope it pays off financially;but doing what's morally right by itself is ones biggest payoff because God looks favorably on those who do.
