Anonymous Coward User ID: 920425 United States 07/20/2013 12:51 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow! that is an awesome NT greek translation! I will use it for my biblestudies....thanks so very much! How long did it take you to do? It would be awesome to do the same in the OT in Hebrew! Quoting: AmazingGRACE Thanks! I never knew if anyone would use it but me, but I sure learned a lot along the way. I honestly don't know how long it took, as I worked on it piecemeal and developed the software as I went along. I only started out to do a few passages as part of a word/topic study, and it just kept growing. I also took over a year off at one point because I was just burnt out. So I dunno, several years at least... after I learned enough Greek to be dangerous. Primary resources were the Scripture4All interlinear, The Source NT with extensive notes on Koine and Classical Greek, and the Liddel-Scott Greek/English Lexicon. I'm guessing that you also used Strongs? I use the BlueLetterBible.com a lot. They have the Strongs and also give the Root Word (Etymology). It has helped a lot in my understanding of the Scriptures and prophecy unfolding. The books the LORD seems to lead me to studying the most is Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, the minor prophets and the N.T. The WORD of GOD is light to my path....it is comfort to my soul....and is rivers of peace flowing over me! It brings purification, santification and the renewal of one's mind when we read/study it daily. I always ask the Holy Spirit to lead me when reading it....when I did this, the Scriptures became alive and revelation was revealed. |

I used the numbers just as a reference for the Greek roots. The Liddel-Scott lexicon is considered one of the premier reference tools for etymology as well as semantic range, and it includes classical Greek as well. I value that because it does influence how we understand Koine Greek words. (Also used Mounce's Analytical Lexicon.) Yes, the Word has been my focus since my mid-teens, and I know it is the Spirit prompting this work, because I surely wouldn't have tried it any other way. Huge hill to climb. Keep2theCode, How would you rate the top translations that we have today? I have always been told that the KJV is the most reliable translation that we now have. Most scholars agree that the KJV was a very good translation for its time. In its preface, the translators explained that their goal was not to make a new translation but only to improve existing ones, with the tools they had at their disposal. But they knew there was much more discovery needed, so they expected translation work to contine in the future. English is a very volatile language, so it's really impossible for one translation to keep up. Many words' meanings have changed to their complete opposite. For example, 'let' used to mean 'restrain', 'prevent' used to mean 'precede', and 'science' used to mean knowledge in general. But like all human endeavors, the KJV had its 'agenda' as well. James was a control freak, and he insisted that 'the divine right of kings' was emphasized. His overseer for the project, named Bancroft, made numerous other rules that went against good translation practice of the time, such as transliterating when they should have translated. (Examples: the word 'baptism' is simply an Aglicized version of 'baptizo' meaning 'to dip, soak, or immerse'. 'Apostasy' means 'to stand apart or away from'. 'Church' is a pagan word derived from 'kirke' or 'cerce', a goddess, while the Greek word is 'ekklesia' meaning 'a separate group'; this same Greek word is also used in the NT to refer to the mob shouting praises to Diana of the Ephesians.) The NIV is really a very good modern English translation, in my opinion. It has its agendas too, such as some Calvinism and male supremacism, but for the most part it does a good job of rendering the Greek. I don't know much about Hebrew so I have to rely on others in that regard, and most scholars seem to think the NIV is actually better in its OT renderings. The NASB is another good one, as also is the ISV. The New Living Translation has some very good passages as well, though also some really bad ones (particularly against women). The Message is one I can't recommend in spite of some good qualities, due to very questionable renderings that steer the reader to more of a "new age" double meaning. I've tried to make a point of not looking at the other English translations during this time, to avoid being influenced. But the one I relied on most is The Source NT by an expert in both Classical and Koine Greek, mainly for the footnotes and sidebars explaining more of the context of language and culture. The English is a little awkward at times, and does seem to bend over backwards to promote some Universalist ideas (as does the Scripture4All interlinear). But the most unfortunate quality is its blatant effort to excuse the modern practice of homosexuality, though I must emphasize that it doesn't outright promote it. The greatest quality of it is that it uses the best available scholarship, which many other translations deliberately ignore so as to preserve traditional wording. Is there an example I could look at? Re. Bible codes in general, the problem I see is that so many of them are based on verse and chapter designations which were never part of the early manuscripts. Also, very interesting results can be gleaned from just about anything, such as US presidents. Even the oldest complete Hebrew manuscripts post-date the New Testament (though fragments a thousand years older were found at Qumran), so any codes from that would be a later addition, in my opinion. I miss you posting here - You bring so much to the table. Thanks for the videos! I'm not sure what to make of this "Star of David Alignment". What are your thoughts? I find it ironic that they are referring to this as a 'war star'. Especially with all of the turmoil that is happening in the Mid-East, and Russia's military apparently being at its highest state of alert. Hmmm As far as the Rapture is concerned, I suppose its possible, but I still feel the Rapture will most likely occur on God's next unfulfilled appointed (feast) day - The Feast of Trumpets, at the last trump blown. What year that will be, I don't know, but I believe it to be close. With the Tetrads of 2014-2015, this star of David alignment, and the coming of comet Ison, there are a lot of signs in the Heavens, that's for sure. On a side note; it wouldn't surprise me if Kate delivered her baby on that day. Prophetic Days!!! |
