I find it funny that Boehners plan only calls for cuts of 1.2 trillion while Harry Reids calls for cuts of 3 trillion.

Boehner's plan stinks. It seeks to cut benefits like Social Security and Medicare while there will be no tax cuts for the rich. In effect, seniors are being taxed for the benefit of the rich.

He ought to be the first one run out of town on a rail.

Obama needs to implement those shovel-ready jobs in order to clean up the loads of bull shit on the floors of Congress.

The difference is "the rich" are keeping their own money. SS and Medicare recipients are living off of someone else's money. Rich = producers, SS, Medicare = consumers. Libtard.

The differnce is that we are taxed from city, school, county, state, and right on up to Washington, D.C. There are no "loopholes" for the general public, but the accountants for the rich make sure they pay little or no taxes.

Actually, the people collecting Social Security paid into it throughout their lifetime as the government took mandatory payment from their paycheck. The government should not be allowed to touch that money for ANY purpose other than to subsidize the retirement of those who paid into it.

The fact that they go after the little guys and don't cut things like the grossly oversized staffs and the metric ton of earmarks for useless crap and bribes is the real criminality.

For one thing, there is no such thing as a tax "loophole". The tax code is something like 85,000 pages long. Everything in there was put there by someone for a reason. If its not in there, the omission is not a "loophole", its just not in there.

For another thing, I don't concern myself with how much money someone else has or makes because it is none of my business, nor is it yours or the governments. if someone is rich, great. More power to them. I couldn't care less about class envy. I worry about myself, not how my tax bill compares to someone else's. If anything, I'd prefer that the 47 or so percent of Americans that don't pay any federal taxes either start paying something or give up their voting rights. A perennial parasite class is developing that pays nothing and votes themselves an increasing amount of benefits. That's a much greater threat to the republic than the "rich", IMO.

But that's the American way! It is the way it has always been done, how do you think we got here?

The problem with that is Reid's plan calls savings money that has been spent the past few years in Iraq and Afganistan that "won't" be after the troop withdrawls. So there's no actual cut at all there.

Neither really cut enough. It shouldn't be "the cuts must equal the debt limit increase". It HAS to be cuts must REDUCE the debt PERIOD. That sentiment is what's being harped on by those in the Tea Party and Republicans who don't like Boehner's plan.

Word now is trickling out that unless whatever agreement is reached cuts the debt by close to 4 Trillion (can we even fathom that let alone realize we're in debt nearly 4x that amout total and wanting to increase it)... If the U.S. doesn't cut the debt by at least 4 trillion dollars then no matter what the U.S. credit rating will be downgraded.

Personally, I don't have a problem with raising the tax rate on those making over a million a year. It seems the one thing the U.S. has been able to create the most of over the past couple decades is million/billionaires, and most of them became wealthy just by shifting paper NOT by producing or creating anything worthwhile. Blasphemous as that is to say, especially with me being a Republican all my life, when you have companies like GE making billions in untaxed profits and still moving divisions overseas rather than exporting American made product from here, then it's time to slap their asses, hard.

I find it lunacy that millions of americans are losing jobs and homes, while millionaires get a free pass. If I were in charge, every millionaire would pay their tax and then get slapped with a 20% surtax. America needs money, and it's high time the wealthy start giving it.
