The "Local Fluff" has been outside our heliosphere up till around 1978, when it started entering our solar system in a big way. This interstellar gas cloud which before was thought to not even be able to hold itself together was found to be extremely magnetically powerful and thats how it stayed together. I won't get into details unless you want any other info but the end result is an effect which I like to call, "Continuous Plasma Exchange".

January 20, 2005 60 degrees west longitude is an example of what this can do. I assume with the effects this cloud of energy is already showing to our planets and the sun, I would expect that the sun becomes very magnetically charged on the corona and we have a lot of increased activity. This will cause massive CME's, Carrington type but this time instead we have this gas cloud saturating all the "space" inbetween the sun the Earth and all the other planets for that matter, this will cause extreme acceleration of the particles from CME's coronal holes etc and cause major damage. This is my theory.

That's true, but think of it in this way: Thousands of years with these EMP's going off in the upper atmosphere constantly. So, even if we hardned all our electronics we'd still never be able to get ahead and make things the way they are now. I think we'd figure out a different "tech" to make things work.
