I have a good question. Are we really on Mars now, did Columbia actually go there, because I don't think they would just "let" it burn up. Also there were too many things that added up to it leaving earth, instead of trying to land with a basketball size hole in the leading edge. I KNOW the robotic arm could (even at that time) look at the wing, and would have seen that gapping hole. If I'm kinda right please let me know. Will the EMP effect of this ribbon short out our entire magnetic field or just cause shorts along it, and leave some intact, or will it be just a big whop and it goes down exposing us to all the Sun's energy?
Why was the last mission of the shuttle, extended (as I know it can stay up much longer than it actually has) only to cut it short anyway?
So this ribbon, has it actually taken out the Voyagers? Is that why they were getting jibberish from them or was that a cover story?

With all the flaming going on here it's hard to even form an opinion. This might sound nuts, but this OP sounds more credible to me than any "I have information to divulge" post that I have read on GLP. And the fact that he actually does come across credible upsets me.

I work for NASA I am getting laid of at the end of this month. I have wasted years of specific education and dedicated my life to them to get a kick in the ass.

What type of energy, xray, gamma, Plasma etc ?
Where does it emanate from or what is the source ?
How long and wide is the ribbon and how did nasa find it ?
What sort of power levels are we talking about ?
What would happen to the Sun if it was whacked with this ribbon ?
What would happen to earth or any of the other
planets if hit ?
