********* 163 YEAR OLD CBOT / CME LEAVING CHICAGO OVER MASSIVE TAXATION ************ | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1477688 Luxembourg 07/29/2011 02:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The state and city had better get their pencils out and do what they can to keep the CBOT/CME in their home state/city. The loss will be so much greater than the final 50m that drove them out it's almost incalculable. Think of all their employees, the state, city, local taxes paid by them - every home purchased by them, every quart of milk bought by them. Chicago are you dumb enough to give up the benefits for a lousy (probably unneeded) 50 million per year in additional taxes. It will turn Chicago into the beginnings of Detroit! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1372469That's Detroit as it is today. Something has been fueling the good life people can earn in Chicago and it's not the stock yards bucko. Run the CBOT/CME out and you'll see your city collapse into an ungovernable destitute swamp just like Detroit became after the US Auto Industry folded their tents and took their earnings overseas. It's already headed in that direction, the PC crowd are doing their best to cover it up. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1487221 United States 07/29/2011 08:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So what exactly do CBOT / CME do for society anyway ? They watch numbers all day and speculate on future prices of commodities. Banks and Large speculators are the USA's "Noblesse Oblige". Their mission is to eat up the economic surplus, nothing else. Speculators are parasites, society would be better off without them. |

Why is production leaving the USA ? Cuz capital is eaten up by useless parasites. |

You really need to read the thread....and learn about HEDGING and how businesses buy/sell resources for production. Businesses hedging used to be the primary use of CBOT/CME but it is now a tiny percentage of futures traded. It is primarily speculation now. CME especially has a nasty habit of controlling and suppressing metals prices, they've become a real thorn in the side of industry that relies on them. I have no sympathy whatsoever for the fate of CBOT/CME. Having said that, they aren't going to cease to exist. If they relocate then yes, the impact will be devastating to Chicago, no question. But lets call a spade a spade, these guys aren't the heroes you're making them out to be - they're fucking scum. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1467630 United States 07/29/2011 11:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No idiot, you're the "moran!" Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1486827The CME and CBOT are owned by plutocrat bloodsuckers, just like Wall Street, and the Federal Reserve. The money they process only produces jobs for themselves, not the general economy. The money invested in those institutions does not circulate in the economy. HAVE YOU GOT THAT? The plutocrats that are siphoning off billions and even trillions from our economy are the ones that SHOULD be paying taxes, because they don't produce ANY jobs except their own. Those institutions are the MAIN REASON our economy is imploding. They're tying up trillions of dollars that otherwise should be circulating in the economy and producing real jobs. Meanwhile, the middle class and poor have less and less money to circulate, even though they are spending 100% of their money. Of course, you're too simple to comprehend the real problems with our economy, and instead listen to Tea Tard shit all day long. Right? You have no idea who owns the CME or CBOT. You don't understand the service they provide. As a matter of fact you know nothing about them. People are choosing of their own free will to use the services provided by these two, and they are making money by selling those services. To a socialist like you that is anathema. Socialists want the government to dictate all economic activity, and they want government to prevent anyone from making more money than the stupid socialist can make. Take away freedom, though, and you take away economic vitality. Cuba, USSR, North Korea, et al have proven the point beyond the shadow of a doubt. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1154162Wrong! Working people built Chicago. The profits that the wealthy made off of working people went into Wall Street, CME, and CBOT and now no longer circulates back into job producing assets. Pure Marxist drivel. "Labor is the only thing that produces value, therefore any profit to the capitalist is a stealing from the laborer, an exploitation." So giving someone a job is exploiting them to a Marxist. Marx got this idea by misconstruing Locke's labor theory of value. Marx overlooked the fact that capital goods (better tools, factories, even professional management) made labor more productive and therefore added wealth. |

Marx was on target but Marxists are morans... those classed as Marxians have a more balanced and natural view of Marx's theories. One gets around the problem of "exploitation" by addressing the distribution of the products of the ownership and control of the means of production.
