I apologize for being so...so abrupt, Copernicus Oblong. To say your God is a loving God, but only if you ask his forgiveness, is dysfunctional in my opinion. I know you have your beliefs, and I do respect them. I just cannot wrap my mind around how people can possibly think it is a loving God. He seems to only love his followers, and screw - eternally no less - peaceful, loving souls, just because they do not believe in this particular version of God.
I am not trying to bait you, I just want to understand why people would believe in this God as a loving God. I am very confused as why people would believe in such things.

It would take ages for me to start explaining how people come to believe this (and like I said, I REEEALLY need to resume my failed mission of getting to bed right now). For myself I can only say that I experienced it. I didn't have a book that told me so (contrary to ajk's stipulations). I found out of my very own accord. Right now I can only encourage you to keep that hunger for knowledge going and actually go out there and find the answers to those questions because there is no way that you'll believe it until you've experienced that love and grace yourself. How much does love and grace have to do with any religion though? I don't think God is so limited that his love and grace only goes so far. God's love and his grace have got nothing to do with religion. They have everything to do with a personal relationship between that person and him. No priests, no vestments, no "holy" idols, no white magic mass rituals in a cold, dead building will bring anyone closer to God.
