In the House, 22 Republicans joined the Democrats voting "no", and 6 Republicans voted with the Democrats in the Senate, and from what I've read, part of the stickler was a balanced budget amendment and the requirement of a second debt ceiling vote prior the next election.

Another problem is that the bill was only a short term plan. The congresscritters would have to visit the debt ceiling issue right around Christmas time and go through this process all over again.

Not good news, folks.

If the Reid bill doesn't go through we to go default.

OP, why are you so set against a default by Obama?

The Republican's act of forcing a delay until 1 freaking o'clock on Sunday morning means they have not yet learned the art of compromise and are basically thumbing their noses at everyone, including the American people.

But they need to be able to read it throughly and then have a Q and A sessio.... What's wrong with that? They need to know what they are voting for, unlike the dems!

The default would not be Obama's.

Think clearly now.

And, come back with the correct statement.

At the end of the day, it will go down as Obama's default!! no matter who is to blame... History will be clear on that

Study the process. Understand exactly WHO needs to pass a bill to allow raising of the debt ceiling.
