Isn't legislation supposed to start in the House and proceed to the Senate according to the Constitution? Isn't this entire process unconstitutional/illegal?

Here is how i see it, the tea party is like many on glp, they want a default, really bad, believe the downgrade and the increased cost of borrowing will bring in long term fiscal responsibility, like a drunk hitting a bottom,

HOWEVER, main stream republican and dems do NOT want default, it would put the existing system in too much jeopardy and they feel it can be tweaked and played with slightly, slowly as the years go bye.

Here the repubs and dems will create a bi partisan bill that is almost all give to the republicans and the tea party extremists will not have a default,

if you have the votes, you can pass a bill in hours, and that is exactly how the endgame will play out here, the drama is just cover for obama and reid to sell out their constituients

it will pass w/ the 'debt ceiling', and then fail, then pass and then 5 minutes to midnight on Aug 2, 2011, will fail and U.S. will go into default, just like "The people behind the curtain" (aka Govt., aka "The man") wanted to, from the very getgo, and the ensuing riots, looting will start. This was just a vote to end a filibuster, no legislation.

Reid changed his vote as a procedural task.

Everything I've seen today is that there is a deal, no taxes, 3 trillion in cuts, and language for a balanced budget amendment (not exactly sure what that means).

Obama and Biden have been working with these folks to cut the deal.

Just like Obamacare....Once the Demorats lost their filibuster proof Senate?...they HAD to take the bill as it was passed when they still had 60 votes and send that to the house, where the house had to leave it untouched and vote to pass or fail...which is just what they did...

The point here is a default will ultimately create an entire new system. If the U.S. does actually fall into default, the entire U.S. political system will be in jeopardy. This is why I don't believe it will happen.

Our politicians want to continue living lavish lifestyles are robbing all the tax paying citizens and they're not going to risk a potential default. It's all one big game of egos. Those on here with half a brain can realize that the politicians are simply positioning themselves for next years elections. It's a vicious cycle, but that cycle is about to explode even if they make a deal work on the debt ceiling.

Vote for Cloture, but if can't get cloture?...they cannot vote...so it essentially is a vote on a bill...rarely any of them vote for or against cloture then change the vote on passage....unless it's some retard like Reid who still thinks he can cut a deal and wants to look like he took a shit in his pants on purpose...

There isn't going to be any defualt or any "New system" or anything even close to that.
