It's fun and easy, and all of you have internet access. Get a Sunday paper and save all the coupons regardless if you think you will use them or not. The drugstores always have deals on tolietries, which you can stock up on with all the deals that come out. Just look at the store circulars that come each week, and match up your coupons to the stuff on sale. You can print coupons too, not sure if I can mention specific websites here, but search on printing coupons and you will find sites you can print coupons for. And print and save them in a binder. When a sale comes up for coupons you have, go and get it. You can get lots of free stuff this way. Grocery coupons too. I find that most of the grocery coupons are not for food my family will eat, but a lot of it is processed dry or canned things that you can store, so you may be interested in that for this purpose. I get free things all the time now, not usually things you can eat, because I seem to be better at finding the deals on toothpaste, shampoo, ect...but it really helps. I wish I could list a bunch of the sites I use here, but I'm not sure if it is against the rules or not. I got clued into it from the show extreme couponing, but I dont't do the 100 bottles of mustard thing they showed. I just clip all my coupons, put them in a binder, and print extras. I go to several websites, and my news feed on a major social internet website has tons of pages you can like, and they literally spell out all the deals for you. You just pull out the coupon and go to the store to score the deal. Some of the major drugstores also combine sales with instant cash back rewards on your registar receipt. You do have to sign up for the store cards though. But it will save a LOT of money. |

Hybrid varieties won't breed true and are only good for a single season. I've been seen traditional varieties being marketed at a premium using the "heirloom" moniker. When you begin gardening, you'll want heirloom seeds and begin to save your own seeds. If you watch which plant comes up first, which has the first blooms, which produces the most, you'll have an idea of which one/s to use for your seed plants. After a while, you'll find the plants not only get better, develop faster with more produce, but seem to acclimate to your area and produce faster and earlier in colder climates. onecraftydude User ID: 1490857 United States 08/06/2011 09:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see generator on that list, but I think a better way to go is a large power inverter with a built-in trickle battery charger and three deep cycle batteries. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1489484That way you never have to worry about gas. And what pray tell do you plan to plug that trickle charger into? The batteries will only last until the charge is gone and they are dead so how do you charge them? Also, I don't think you will find an inverter cheaper than a generator that can run your refrigerator. You can modify a diesel engine to run on vegetable oil or engine oil collected from restaurants etc. My truck uses waste veggie oil from our local bar. You can also run a generator on woodgas. There are plenty of videos on youtube on making one. I have not made on yet, but I plan to soon. The wood is turned to charcoal in a small metal container and the output goes to the engine intake. Once the flow is adjusted and there is sufficient gas the engine will run normally using wood as a fuel source. If you have neighbors with food that will spoil and you have a working generator make a deal with them to keep their food from spoiling. Most likely everyone will have something to contribute, but even if they don't you can make them contribute in other ways such as helping get the garden started or tended if you already have one. Remember to only run your generator for refrigerators and power tools and then shut it off. This saves a lot of fuel and keeps your frozen goods frozen. If you run woodgas or have plenty of fuel you could run nonstop and use a/c, lights, water pump, washing machine, etc. If your neighbors want to share some of your comforts you can work that out with them. I have been prepping since 1998, and I have to say that the food from FF2G is some of the best tasting on the market. The best part is that they sell at wholesale to everyone. So even if you do not join the Co-Op, you can still purchase long term food storage at a great price. In the month of July alone I earned enough free food credits to add two months to my supply. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1490353i just put one of those on my "bug out" vehicle... it charges the battery in a couple of hours... and will power everything except for the refrigerator and the air conditioner. the camper already had an inverter... but you're right... it cost my a hundered thirty bucks...on sale. it's worth it though. A panel straight to the battery? how does that work? Any small solar panel can be hooked up to a battery without a charge controller. It usually has a blocking diode to keep it from discharging the battery when the sun goes down, if not it is easy to put a diode in-line on the ground side. I keep a solar panel hooked up to a 12 volt car battery in all of my boats. It gets used for sump pumps when it rains. I never worry about the batteries because they are always charged when I need them. If you plan on using a large inverter you will need enough battery to handle the watts you want to use. All batteries have ratings telling you how many watts the battery will put out per hour (Watt-hour) so a 15 wh battery will handle 15 watts of output per hour. You need to know what wattage your device uses so you know how big your inverter and battery needs to be. The larger panels need a power controller. Ron Paul 2012 |
