Actually they had a sale. I know it's not as pretty as singles but we live in the boonies, so who cares. It's white, repels heat. It was very easy to install. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1066503I have 2 people trying to convince me to go metal, however Im probably gonna resell and I think it would hurt the value.Metal is nice on certain houses but modern Looking houses look like crap with tin roofs. |

Tar/oil based products are NOT good for the environment. Each time it rains that tar in the asphalt will be washed down the roof, to the gutter and either onto the ground or in some areas out to the sewers where it will be directly dumped into the local river. Metal (Copper, aluminum, steel) is really good. If you can find Aluminum roofing, you have a roof forever. Tile ceramic and concrete are both excellent contenders, again with a very long life as long as there is no physical accident like a tree limb landing on the roof and breaking tiles. These alternatives are clean, come from renewable and reusable resources. Sinkhole list: Thread: Sinkholes Updated 28 Dec 2010 find a sinkhole, add it to this thread, please. Molded metal can look like asphalt, curved tile (Spanish), slate, wood shingles - anything. This is not the old tin roof, these are 'squares' of solid sheet metal that has been pressed and cut to look like all manner of things. While in many instances the at the door cost for metal, tile, and roof alternatives are more expensive, the savings in things like energy and not having to replace the roof for decades longer than shingle can be a huge selling point. [link to www.google.com] (Google Images) is a good place to get a look see at the alternatives. While the standard metal and seam is there, you will also note many shingle like roofs which are really metal. If you get the semi-insulated panels (foam backed sheet metal) you also get an added insulation value, which may qualify you for rebates from your energy companies (electric and/or gas) and may also get you state and federal rebates and tax breaks.
