Had they followed Ron Paul's very learned advice, and the Tea Party's 100,000 cuts found in the government's own book of wasteful spending, the pain would be much less, and over quickly. They also found agency after agency, some useless to start with, agencies with so much redundancy built in that each one had as many as dozens of smaller duplicate agencies doing the same jobs.
Trillions in cuts, right now.

The country's moral would have skyrocketed, and businesses would have begun hiring in earnest, seeing that Congress was willing to make the same kind of cuts that any American would make. Common sense.

They were there to do their jobs, and they didn't care about re-election.
They said that there had been attempts to bribe them to change their votes. The bribes were turned down.

You see, the grandparents were the generation who fought WW2 and Korea. The women ran the factories, built the planes, the trucks, the tanks. Some served near combat, and flew supply planes into combat areas.
Then, they came back and were part of an economy recovering, and then prospering.

Your parents, if boomers, were drafted to fight in Viet Nam. The wives, mostly teenagers, stayed behind, and raised the babies alone. There were millions of your parents generation who realized how crooked the government was, and how wrong the policies, and took to the streets and marched and protested on college campuses. They faced down armed national guard in one place or another, daily, on the news, in your face BOLD.
It stopped a war, was the catalyst for the War Powers Act, ended the draft, lowered the voting age, created more equality for women, and helped unseat a crooked president - who was a natural born citizen BTW.

So, don't blame your parents or your grandparents. Now that you have viewed the debates - you did, right? - nd you realize how crooked it is, how much do you think any one individual can do, like you too?
You now know that your parents and grandparents have done a lot already, and continue to exert their opinions and actions in attempts to make their voices heard. Millions of them have again marched and protested en masse. Millions of them started without realizing it, what became the Tea Party.
And their new popularly funded representatives did exactly what they were sent to Washington DC to do.

"IF" people REALLY want to balance the budget, but keep defense spending intact there are THREE ITEMS THEY HAVE TO CUT OUT VIRTUALLY ENTIRELY (since about 1/2 of what we spend is borrowed)

1) Social Security needs to be eliminated
2) Medicare needs to be eliminated
3) All farm programs and subsidies for ag products need to be eliminated
4) Medicaid needs to be eliminated
5) Social Services such as Section 8 and Food Stamps need to be eliminated

If you ELIMINATE ALL the above virtually all other government programs would still need to be cut by about 1/2 to 2/3 "IF" one leaves defense alone ... then and only then will the budget be balanced.

WHO among you is in favor of cutting entirely you and your parent's/grandparents Social Security and Medicare? Come on ... Raise your hands!! (can't balance the budget without eliminating it if you protect the Defense budget)
