A tip...4 when your browser is "stuck"

If your browser is "stuck" waiting for an advertisement at some web site...sometimes you can add a line to
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.txt for a "fake" IP address of the one that is getting "stuck." An example may help here...I run linux....so the file I edit is in a different place...but, I added the following line when stuck at drudge...restart the browser...bye bye to advertisement that won't work...

127.0.0.11 ads.pubzzz.com

(There was something other than zzz in the above line.)


You can use any address within this range...
127.0.0.2 out to 127.0.0.255 (you can actually use a LOT more -see the RFC for local host) but that should get you by.

I am NOT saying to get rid of all ads do the above...I am saying that sometimes ad servers get hosed up and you can't load a page you want to see...so, do the above "trick."

If you have info for 64 bit Windoze or Apple or whatever...I am more than willing to learn!
