There's a GREAT! photo of a protestor holding up a sign (I think it says something like 'get a brain MORAN'). See, it's irony. And now it's an insider joke.

On another site (that shall remain nameless) they used the color purple to point out that they were being ironic/sarcastic in their replies. Not so on this site. But we all assume that you know about the above pic and catch the joke.

It's sort of like 'should I bring in the tomato plants?'

It helps to make them feel special and insulates them from people not in the know.

In this case, given the written medium used here, the misspelling of moron as moran.

My guess is that the OP knows this and is trying to agitate rather than ask a simple question. The phenomenon is interesting though.
