lol you guys are so funny with your "is iceland toast" hahahahaha if i had wine in my mouth, my computer would be inoperable about now. *shakes head* good grief.

it *IS* exciting though. i really don't think there will be any risk of dire solar flares until well into the upper X-class flares...and at this rate (during this solar cycle) i honestly wouldn't be surprised if it weren't til the very peak of this cycle before we see another one. but i do hope for sooner, i do, i do! (***and to add: by dire, i really only mean possibly damaging....not like, earth-ending or anything, ffs people, screw your heads back on...you're going to be okay.)

So I now the CME is supposed to reach Earch on August 4th....does anyone know what time?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1457789

Spaceweather has the info:

"At least two coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are now en route to Earth, propelled toward us by eruptions in the magnetic canopy of sunspot 1261 on August 2nd and 3rd (...)
According to the model, Earth's magnetic field will receive a double-strike from the clouds on August 4th at 22:39 UT plus minus 7 hours. Mild to moderate geomagnetic storms are possible when the CMEs arrive"

[link to www.spaceweather.com]

That info is for the M1 (on the 2nd) and the M6 (yesterday).

No info on when the CME from that latest M9.3-flare is due though...

If it's not a high X, then we're fine.........

Re: We just had another M9.3 Flare - All this solar activity and not one pinned sun thread?
Hi Nin - I read your other thread started in March - currently at 189 pages - quite a bit and am thankful there are those like yourself who take the time to pursue as genuine of a thread as possible.

I am not knowledgable about any aspects of the sun, but I do understand electronics and how magnatism works to a good degree. So here is my theory - submitted for your thoughts - as to why large sun flares possibly cause earthquakes, volcanic eruptions etc here on earth.

Nin - ever since it was suggested on your other thread about the link between solar activity and Earth's volcanos and earthquakes, this is what I have thought was the cause.

In the simplest description:

1) Earth has north and south poles just like a battery.

2) When the Sun-charged particles blast past our poles and cause auroras, the energy has to go somewhere.

3) Like a battery that place is the core (or cells in a battery).

4) In the Earth's case however, the extra charge to our magnetic core causes a large heating effect.

5) This extra upward pressure in turn causes more magma being created and thus earthquakes and volcanic activity.

So - anyone care to chime in? Preferably positive feedback ;o)

I have been bedridden sick since the 30th.
Just make it stop. Maybe if the sun stops exploding, I will too.

The radiation from these flares is heating the earth in spots but its being blocked out in the media by the communist Marxist leftist greens to try to pursue their carbon taxing and NWO.
Its amazing how when you talk to someone, they talk about the weather.
Then when you mention how there has been some massive solar flares, they say what? Solar what?
They have been mind controlled.

this just looks like the chart from march 6th onward, before we had the X flare and the earthquake in Japan. Not saying that anything like it will happen again, but interesting to notice.

Also remember that we just entered the 5th day of the Mayan Calendar! (exactly like on March 9th when we entered the 1st day)

Re: We just had another M9.3 Flare - All this solar activity and not one pinned sun thread?
Very odd skyline in Detroit tonight. Two glowing orange hues pulsating up above.

Zug Island where they process steel always puts out a organge verticle glow but tonight it is glowing completely horizontal, this may be explained by cloud covering? It is pulsating.

Zug Island is south of the sun rise.

Also,West in the skyline is a large pulsating orange glow maybe the sunrise in the East bouncing off the clouds in the West?

Oh so sorry to hear that. What do you have? I have been hospitalized twice for ulcerative colitis. I'm only 43, and it feels like it might eventually do me in.

On topic...if the flare exceeded the 10.0 threshold under M Class would it then be an X class flare?
