Man these frogs are killing my braincells.
In randomness lies the absolute oddity. As far as Im concerned, life happened on this planet due to one fortunate oddity.

Yes exactly, someone has to run the body. Reminds me of this video I saw, can't find it now, but the basic idea was that the soul never dies, just the body. Without the soul inhabiting it, the body would not exist. Without US, none of this would exist. Think about that.....we are more powerful than we know.

How do you know? How can you be so sure? If your mind is already convinced there is one way and one way only, you're going to base your "knowledge" of these other things on that. Until you have opened your mind, you can't know what you think you know.

The Origins of reincarnation?
That's an easy one. God Himself.

KARMA is God's Law of Justice.

And Reincarnation is just the way it works so that we can ALL learn why we should not do some of the things we do which harm others.

Its actually a Perfect learning device.

Generally its about us having more lives which can show and teach us what it feels like to have done to us what we have done to others in previous lives.
So we can learn to become good sons and daughters of God, and actually learn to cooperate with all of God's creation.

Its been known for thousands of years, but has been carefully taken out of many of our belief systems by those who do not want to believe it is true, so they could continue to do the harm they wanted to do to others and actually think there was no payback.

But since KARMA is God's creation, it is a fact and what we choose to believe does nothing to the fact that it is REAL for all of us.

Reincarnation is just another wrong religious belief. It has no basis in reality, it's merely a belief. That is my current understanding.

Re: Origins of reincarnation
Origins of reincarnation

Why did Buddha teach reincarnation? Technically, Buddha didn’t. Reincarnation originated from Buddha’s former religion Hinduism, which is a religious tradition based on the caste system. The four Hindu castes range in colour from white (at the top) to red to brown to black (at bottom). Hindus believe that being born with dark skin is the result of bad karma, but being born with white skin is a sign of good karma. Just as evolution served to justify many whites’ persecution of Australian Aborigines (who were tagged as less ‘evolved’), so too reincarnation serves to justify the racial, social and economic stratification of the East.

The word ‘Aryan’, which Nazis used to refer to a ‘master race’, actually comes from a Sanskrit word meaning ‘noble’; as in arya sat yani in Sanskrit or ariya sat see in Thai, meaning the ‘four noble truths’. Adolf Hitler adopted his racist plans from two anti-Christian influences: evolution and Hinduism. Nearly all Hindus and Buddhists who believe in reincarnation desire to come back in the next life with whiter skin, as Aryans are at the top of the caste system.

[link to creation.com]

For many in our culture, the penchant towards evolutionary thinking (coupled with the spiritual hunger we all have, being created in God’s image) means that they are increasingly toying with mystical and ‘spiritual’ notions such as reincarnation, ideas that have a long history of justifying social stratification and racial inequalities.

Westerners are usually shocked to find this out. Westerners generally tend to believe in the equality of the races because of their Christian background. This is despite the negative effects of evolutionary indoctrination tending otherwise. Though many in the West are no longer practising Christians, yet we have had the truth of Creation taught for many centuries. The abolition movements of the 18th and 19th century were led by creation-believing Christians like William Wilberforce. The world owes much of its present freedom to Christ, Christians and creationism (all men are created equal by God). If, as evolutionary thinking erodes the authority of the Bible in people’s minds, we allow our Christian heritage to be stripped away from our Western schools and government and law, we will lose the very foundation upon which Christians struggled to lay our society, with all its blessings.
 Quoting: Neesie

Another Christian nutter claiming his religion is right, and everybody else is wrong. What a tool you are.

And oh, by the way, Jesus did talk about reincarnation - that concept was removed from his teachings a couple hundred years after he died because it was deemed too controversial and didn't fit the narrative that Christian leaders wanted their followers to believe.

Re: Origins of reincarnation
Jesus spoke of reincarnation, too. hf
 Quoting: ~Kristine Tammy Marie~

Indeed He did. Most scripture referring to reincarnation where removed in the 3rd Century.

Reincarnation is fact people.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1494756

Were these books written during the century Christ lived?

Because if you are referring to the Gnostic Gospels, most people forget that these books were penned at least one or two centuries before Christ.
By NON-EYEWITNESS. Unlike the canonical Gospels.

The only exception may be the Gospel Of Thomas, which does not deal with ANY of the facts of Christ's life----just some secret sayings supposedly said to Thomas. That's it.

Most Gnostic Gospels were reinterpretations by people with different philosophical and religious agendas than ORTHODOX Christians. One of the earliest Gnostics, Marmion, wanted to remove ALL Jewish influnces from the used Gospels and books at the time.

One of the reasons the books were removed was because they were not even written during the time after Christ died. Some of the books were actually written two centuries after Christ's death. Does that make them trustworthy? Not likely. They are also confusing as to many facts of Christ's life.

No because you dismiss it without even knowing what you are dismissing.

And don't even try that making sense business either, because there is no way that a belief system that teaches man is inherantly evil because of what two people did thousands of years before any of us were born, makes any sense whatsoever. Believe it if you wish, but it doesn't now and never will make sense.
 Quoting: ajk

My religion, at least Eatern Catholicism, does not teach that. It simply says Man inherited the stain of Original Sin by Adam. We are in essence a fallen race. It does not say mankind is inherently evil.

Are Catholics nuts too?

And if you care to look two posts above, you will see that those things were removed because those things were not apparently said by Jesus-----they were made up two centuries after after the fact by people who wanted to join NeoPlatonism with Christianity and create their own vision of what a Christian should be.

Do the Gospels mention Reaincarnation?
They were written some years roughly after Christ's death.

Except for the Gospel of Thomas, which doesn't even deal with Christ's life----just some sayings----NONE of the books you are talking about was written in the first century. They were written either in the 2nd century or third one by non-eyewitnesses who wanted to set up a rival "school" to ORTHODOX Christianity. They used Neo-Platonic and Eastern sources, along with Hermetic writings, to fuse that into Christian teaching--------then called it the "true," "hidden" chrstianity. Yeah, right.

Because some of us have CONTACT with them? ;)
 Quoting: ObeWayneKenobe

fair enough, if that is your belief then so be it. LOL
 Quoting: Neesie

I'm confused w/ your answers Neesie...1st you say you've had alien contact then, you say fair enough & LOL at someone else having contact and believing in et's,etc... So, how can you say you've had contact w/ et's then, literally make fun of another person for believing in et's and other galaxies? You're contradicting yourself on here...can you please correct me if my assumptions are wrong on what you've written...........

She did, with that one statement:

"all of it can be easily explained"

What she meant is it can be explained AWAY. thumbs

Let me guess:
You were once a prince/princess.
You were a Spartan soldier.
You were an ancient Egyptians shaman.
You once was a Sea Captain of Sailing ships.

Why wasn't anyone simply a housewife?
Housewives were very common... isn't it the MOST likely past life?

Re: Origins of reincarnation
Reincarnation is just another wrong religious belief. It has no basis in reality, it's merely a belief. That is my current understanding.

How do you know? How can you be so sure? If your mind is already convinced there is one way and one way only, you're going to base your "knowledge" of these other things on that. Until you have opened your mind, you can't know what you think you know.
 Quoting: ajk

so because I do not subscribe to new age philosophy and BS, that I do not have an open mind.

I choose to believe in things that actually make sense that is all.
 Quoting: Neesie

No because you dismiss it without even knowing what you are dismissing.

And don't even try that making sense business either, because there is no way that a belief system that teaches man is inherantly evil because of what two people did thousands of years before any of us were born, makes any sense whatsoever. Believe it if you wish, but it doesn't now and never will make sense.
 Quoting: ajk

My religion, at least Eatern Catholicism, does not teach that. It simply says Man inherited the stain of Original Sin by Adam. We are in essence a fallen race. It does not say mankind is inherently evil.

It's not much better, it's still ridiculously unfair.
No one is perfect. A babe before walking will first stumble and fall many times but NEVER gives up until he succeeds.

Always remember, ultimately, to never follow any person's belief. Your relationship with God is between you and God.

If nothing else, remember this: religion = subservience, control and conformity, the same template as EVERY government

"Most believers would kill truth if truth threatened their religion." L. K. Washburn

"This crime called blasphemy was invented by priests for the purpose of defending doctrines not able to take care of themselves." Robert Ingersoll

"If anyone wants to know how God feels, it's a warm light as if the sun is poking through dark clouds and lifting your spirits with pure joy."
