What would cause that kind of flash?

Then what happened? You took the screencap, then what? You stopped watching?

I don't know. it was all beautiful and blue and then suddenly it looked like an eclipse of the earth. and then this bright light from the earths direction.

It seems to show corresponding beams eminating from the other side and partially blocked by the globe as though the flash/beam went completely through the earth.

Where you were watching it? From the NASA site or somewhere else?

I went to the NASA page and opened the live cam, and it seems to be working. There's a cool glowy orange orby thing down on the right side of the screen:

I was kicked back watching the earth slowly go by and then something weird happened

Anyone notice the face in the pic?
On the far left near the top.
Looks like a human face!

the screen started to darken and it looked like something bright was coming off of the earth
