If you're in prison - you should get NOTHING for your labor. Nobody forces anyone to do drugs or break the law. If prison was a REAL punishment maybe they wouldn't be so full.

they are way over paid.

Why does this have to be about punishing someone? It's all about the economy, instead of outsourcing the jobs to China they are outsourcing them to the prison system. Ofcoarse they'll take the job, beats sitting in prison and that's how they can make huge spending cuts on salaries and take the jobs away from the honest working man.

It's not rocket science, just manipulation to further their agenda... they really do want us imprisoned and/or dead.

Welcome to the new age! This is still only the beginning.

Now can someone please get Dr. Ron Paul in to the White House?

Re: RT News: Prison Labor - Inmates working for .23/Hour in the U.S.
Hmm, part of the reason for China's economic success is their use of forced labour in their factories. However in such a low-paid country it's difficult to distinguish between "prison" jobs and those that are merely very cheap.

Still it's a symptom of the times that huge profits are being made on the back of prison labour. It's one thing to keep prisoners occupied, quite another to have them stealing jobs from the economy at large.

It's a corporation's wet dream: have your products made for next to nothing by slaves and profit thereby. Is this the model for the NWO (besides outsourcing jobs and importing cheap immigrants)?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1440698

These inmates are learning several skills to adapt to society when they get out. It is a great idea and is meant to rehabilitate them. Do you really think these companies can't just have the manufacturing done in China for cheaper? Of course they can, at least it's staying in the US I guess.

Fuck you. It's called a corrective facility for a reason, not a punishment facility.

When a child does something wrong, you correct them, not punish them. I bet you beat dogs too when they shit on your carpets.

This has been going on for decades. In NY State, the inmates make all of the chairs, tables, filing cabinets, book cases, and even soap that you see in every public school and government office, amoung countless other items that are made in trade shop settings. Even the beds themselves that the prisoners sleep on were welded by other inmates. It is an enormous scam.
 Quoting: Ninja X

so basically instead of someone that followed the law and did not end up in jail, getting a chance to make the profits, instead they use slave labor?

prisoners should be self sustaining. they should farm their own food, make their own clothes, even produce their own energy, but replacing workers on the outside? its not fair for them to steal our jobs.

Would you rather pay for their prison stay in tax funds, or have the prison get paid by companies to manufacture products and the prisoners getting a percentage?

And would you really want a job sewing shit or doing small manual labor tasks? It's not like most of them are college educated with an existing skillset, so the jobs they get fit the tasks involved.

I watch bait car a lot... I think we should do more of that... Here in America the black people can play the race card.. It's not like that in other parts of the world.. There are a lot of places in the world where black people are respected and the did it without the race card.. You think the black people in America would learn something from that.. But instead they want to hang out, smoke crack, and steal cars, or whatever else the can grab.. Granted there are some great black families in America, but most of them fall into the race card rut.. The result is, prison .. and yes, if the steal the stuff I or others work for, prison is where they should rot..

Yes well that's what you get with 3 strikes laws. Just have to lock up all those shop lifters, that guy who cheated on his drivers test & the one who broke in to the soup kitchen as they are all such a menace to society. Meanwhile serious crime is going on all over the place.

New Jerusalem plan to convert the inmates into good Christians

Raise their pay to $4/hr and send them to New Jerusalem Christianity conversion school during their prison tour. When they are reprogrammed and ready to be discharged help them get a job in the free world.

Most of them are no different than the average american. Not all of them have commited serious crimes either. They aren't going to put violent inmates to work, inmates are given work when they've shown "good behavior". It's not like they're going to give access to industrial tools to inmates that could pose a risk.

Any one of them could be you, me, your brother, sister, mom, dad, etc.

The point of this video is that because of it, fewer tax dollars are needed because the private sector is helping to pay for their housing.

Cheap labor, assisted rehabilitation into the working world, lower war effort & defense costs.

Something similar happened back in the 30's with State Prison farms, they were competing directly against the farmers but had virtually no labor costs. So, the farmers got together and formed a lobbyist organization and changed the laws.

Prisoners, it is my understanding, don't just work for the Military, they are making clothes as well and probably other things.

I have noticed that I no longer hear about prison overcrowding and it was a huge issue for years in this state.

They don't have to worry about OSHA standards either.

I recycle electronics for my job and we drop them off behind the local police station in a uhaul.

I asked where they went and they are hauled to the local prison.

Some of the "Lifers" as they call them have separate housing, meaning an actual home outside of the prison, a vehicle, horse, etc. These are to be used when an inmate escapes, they help chase them down and get them back.

I asked about the houses on the prison grounds because I assumed they belonged to the guards. haha, the guards aren't so blessed.
