Here's an Interesting article I found from Bismark ND..at least their website/newspaper allows comments from it's readers unlike Omaha's..

Posted: Sunday, August 7, 2011 2:00 am
The Missouri River continues to rip through Bismarck-Mandan. About 1,000 homes remain evacuated, although one by one families are now returning to assess the heart-breaking damage as the river slowly drops. Expectations are it will be mid- to late September before the Missouri drops below flood stage.

[link to bismarcktribune.com]

now..here's an article from the Omaha newspapers website where it claims:

"The Missouri River at Omaha could be below flood stage in September, said Jody Farhat of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers."

Published Friday July 22, 2011

Bismark is almost 450 miles N of Omaha

to clarify..the way I see it since Bismark is way N of Omaha and if they're predicting mid to late September for that location it'll probably be at least a month later for the facilities in Nebraska. Bismark is located just S of the Garrison Dam btw

here's a pic of that area from 7-30

The Oahe Dam is a large dam along the Missouri River, just north of Pierre, South Dakota in the United States. It creates Lake Oahe, the fourth largest artificial reservoir in the United States, which stretches 231 miles (372 km) up the course of the Missouri to Bismarck, North Dakota. The dam's powerplant provides electricity for much of the north-central United States.

It would seem that the Good Folks at Ft. Calhoun have been taking serious notes from BP, ExxonMobile, and TEPCO.

It's a "new norm" that they want to impress us with, but I think, as an American, that the "message control" scheme needs to be pushed aside. The First Amendment is being subverted-- Governments and Corporations, together. That's Fascism in it's purest, cleanest form.

I don't know about further north, but the Missouri River at St Joseph, MO, is, for the first time this summer, below major flood stage.

yw..what concerned me especially about this was the 'military' presence in the area..I think it's claimed that they are the National Guard but I wouldn't be surprised if it were someone else doing some kind of roundup while everyone was diverted..

the fact that the gooberment came out a few weeks ago saying terrorists had already infiltrated facilites like this did nothing to dispel my fears of a couple of meltdowns either

what's really strange Is I noticed that the berm collape etc. at Ft. Calhoun was going on at roughly the same time as the back burn etc at Los Alamos

DHS fearmongering - plain and simple.

I know people that work in the nuclear power plants - the people doing the "physical work" and let me tell you they are tight knit groups - proud of what they do and extremely aware of the potential dangers and the people around them.

These guys and girls have to pass strict background checks and are careful to keep their noses clean both at work and in their personal lives - they like earning excellent paychecks and will be the first to let their co-workers know if they see something wrong or hinky in their doing or behavior.

They also won't hesitate to "tell" on anyone who acts or talks "hinky" - too much danger on the job just by it being nuclear for them to allow anyone to jeopardize their safety.

Can't say as to the higher-ups - would stand to reason that the checks and balances are more rigorous even - I hope.

Any confirmation on if the dam/levee did go? Any one up there that can confirm anything? That would put an un believable amount of more water into the Missouri River. So any South Dakota people close by please confirm one way or the other.

Depends on a few things... how fast it is gushing out/down....how many more dams/levees it takes out on the way ...etc..... few days to a week max i would think...not good news for those south of the calhoun/cooper situation.

This does not sound good:

In an opinion column last week in the Post-Dispatch that got heavy readership along the river, Bernard Shanks, an author and former U.S. Geological Survey official, offered a frightening scenario of dam failure. He theorized a "domino effect" of catastrophic failures of dams more than a half-century old, triggering a flood of biblical proportions that would consume bridges and split the nation in two.

In an interview, Shanks, who also headed the Washington state Fish and Wildlife Department, said that he has studied Missouri River dams throughout his career and is writing a book about them. He has not been involved in their operation.

"I don't want to frighten people, but I want them to appreciate that dams are like our bridges and highways that are falling apart," he said.

Strange Article from Aug 8th..it almost seems that the Governor of Iowa and a Congressman need permission from FEMA to take a boat ride along the Missouri to assess flood damages..

[link to easterniowagovernment.com]

the title of the article is even strange imo

"Branstad wants closer look at flood damages"

umm..He is the Governor right?

He said he and King, who represents Iowa’s 5th congressional district, have discussed setting up a tour by boat with FEMA officials to get a closer, first-hand look of the economic consequences of the prolonged Missouri River flooding.

I don't want to sound insulting, but the reason for the Ft. Calhoun news blackout is the same reason for the following news blackouts:

1) Fukushima
2) Ron Paul's Presential Campaign
3) The Comet Elenin
4) The Gulf Oil Catastrophe
5) The U.S. and NATO slaughter Lybian citizens.
6) The real reason for the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
7) The real reason for the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan.
8) The large celestial object incoming from the south (Nirbiru).
9) The fact the the Federal Reserve lends money to the U.S. that doesn't exist.
10) That everyone and anyone with a "free energy" patent disappears forever.
