First - all my friends are Christians, and for the most part, none of them express an overt arrogance, as they use their beliefs to impel them through life in a positive way, which is what 99% of the planet does with their particular religious beliefs.

But Christianity stands out among the rest in its reductive theology which posits that there is a Point A and (desirable) Point B, and the only way to get from point A to point B is through their invented avatar, Jesus.


All others, by default, necessarily will be relegated to Point C, the pit of doom.


This is where Christianity becomes a vessel of arrogant reduction - in effect, telling the rest of the world that their cultures, customs and beliefs are void - devoid of any value, meaning or connection to the "divine". And subsequently, that all non-Christian lives are subsequently vacant of meaning, truth and purpose - as all that comprises the life of a non-Christian is patently pointless and without effect or value, as all such lives wind up in the same wretched place and state of oblivion, rendering the whole of such a life, invalid, inconsequential and disconnected to "god".


This is the insult that is Christianity.


The arrogance part, is that by deduction, only a Christian life has value, meaning, purpose or lasting positive effect - as only a Christian's life can account for anything before their "god" - as only they will spend an eternity with "god". And so all that comprises life - the ups and downs, the trials and errors, the acts of kindness - the accomplishments - the creativity - the learning and growing - the wisdom gained - the purpose and meaning - the truth and beauty - is only real and substantive if you are a Christian. The rest of humanity? Well - nice try - but no cigar. Take whatever meaning, truth, beauty and wisdom you think you've gained to the pit of doom and see what it's worth.


There is no other religion quite like Christianity.


And certainly, none so arrogant.
