I also believe in the bins idea, see one of my earlier posts, but it's not ideal as normally you have things in them, in my case my survival cache items. If filled with water, you cannot stack them due to weight.

1 gallon of water weighs approximately 8.35 lbs. Do the math. 30 gallons x 8.35 = 250.5 lbs. That is very heavy for a bin, and not manageable for most folks to move, not without spillage, and most likely will result in tipping over stacked bins. They weren't made for that use, but if placed on the ground, they of course that will work. Not ideal at all.

In a pinch, a strong cooler can hold a lot of water, but most likely has old food particles in it, and will need bleaching too.

People always bring up rainwater collection. This is highly complex to purify, collect, and relocate. Not much rain in winter, so that's a big concern.

Some people foolishly talk about harvesting snow into potable water. This is enormously labor intensive as 8-12 inches of snow is equivalent to 1 inch of rain, and still must be melted which takes time, energy, and most likely a lot of labor. Might work well for very northern climates, but then they have heating issues too.
