Yarrow was used to increase blood clotting, or stop bleeding. It was used by taking clean new leave and tearing it a bit so that it gets wet and then by putting on the wound. There may be no time to use it other way. One active ingredient is azulene also found in Chamomile. Flowers have more azulene.
